   open plants_planetartdefs.xml with notepad++ and replace
   <Ambient>0.05</Ambient>
   with
   <Ambient>
   <Red>20</Red>
   <Green>20</Green>
   <Blue>20</Blue>
   <Alpha>0</Alpha>
   </Ambient>
   
   I just copied that from base game earth and replaced every instance. It then worked fine.
