There is currently an issue with the some of the videos causing the game to hang after playing. I am still troubleshooting to find the cause of this.
UPDATE 2022-10-20: I think I have finally discovered the cause of the hangs and am working on a fix. Unfortunately this means redoing those videos from scratch, so it will take some time. Thanks to everyone for being patient while I work to resolve this.
Hello! @Skopin, just posting this here to ask if has there been any update on the FMV stuttering issues. Just downloaded the 4K FMVs and was experiencing issues where the audio was doubled, and the FMV itself was stuttery during the opening scene where Tidus tries to get into the stadium.
There are some timing issues created by the upscaling process that caused the audio and video to be out of sync. Specifically, the audio is a few frames longer than the video, which apparently the in-game player doesn't like.
I'm re-processing the files and re-encoding them to fix that, but the in-game player also doesn't seem to handle high bitrates well, which is why some of the 4K videos are also stuttering in-game even though they play fine in external players. I'm just trying to find a balance that doesn't sacrifice quality for the 4K files.
Although the videos themselves are incredibly high quality, thumbs up to the hard work of the uploader, I would not advise installing the mod at this time.
Using the shared + 4k JP videos on a 4k system, in about the first 5 hours of the game, I encountered a couple of cutscenes that caused the game to hang, i had to manually remove them to play the original clips instead, a few cutscenes were entirely green masked, with only a few visible movement, a couple of cutscenes were cut short and other mild audio issues with those that worked.
Had a game hang right after the scene where the crusaders fight sin at mushroom rock road. Using the 4K version. Strange thing is though when I went to the video folder to remove the offending video it wasn't in there? The file most definetly played at 4k in game but i literally went through every video file with vlc and the scene wasnt in the folder and I believe a few other smaller ones too? Just thought I'd mention as any more info could help lead to a solution. Hope you find a fix soon because the upscale looks so darn good! Would really be the cherry on the cake of the modded version of the game.
I wanted to add something in hopes to help. I tried testing some things. I got the current version of special k from their wiki. Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster (UnX) | Special K - The Official Wiki (special-k.info) This is where they recommend getting it and they recommend configuring special k to play in fullscreen borderless flip mode. Even with UnX installed I think the game is still not scaling the game correctly at resolutions other than 1080p. If you play in say 4k, just before the first cutscene when tidus is trying to get into the stadium he's cut-off at the bottom. After the first cutscene when tidus get's up if you look at the top there is a grey looking bar. when you move tidus down when you can control him it's as if the scene pans down and the bar goes away. If you play in 1080p tidus is not cut-off at the bottom when trying to get into the stadium and the grey bar doesn't appear after the first cutscene. The game is doing something weird with scaling at resolutions other than 1080p and UnX has nothing to do with that. UnX just disables dpi scaling. Also if I play at 1080p and use the 1080p cutscenes in the beginning the first 2 cutscenes don't stutters at certain parts but the 2nd cutscene when tidus and auron get suck up into sin the cutscene does hang there after it plays. At 4k resolution using the 4k fmv's there is stutter though the second cutscene doesn't hang at the end. I haven't tested past that. I'm assuming the cutscene with wakka and lulu at the campfire still hangs.
Thank you @Skopin. That's great news that you think you've found a fix. Saw that ffgriever uploaded a port of his loader too and confirm it works with UnX.
