oh god this really makes you realize how bad the actual ingame audio is. totally ruined it for me lmao i'd be careful with using this mod because the moment you get out of the first cutscene, you won't be able to unhear how bad the quality of the game is
I am not sure what quality difference you were able to notice/ hear in the audio when you switched to in game cutscenes that ruined the game for you.
if you are hearing an buzzing noise then that's an game bug which can be fixed quite easily with a compatibility switch to windows 8.
I found the transition from pre rendered cutscenes to the ingame ones to be somewhat better than before with this mod. earlier it was worse for the pre rendered FMVs, but now its slightly bearable.
I have the same issue, I checked compatibility and set it to windows 8, I turned every surround setting off, I even put the fix files said to fix the buzzing sound in steam forum, but it's not buzzing, the sound of people talking in real game is just awful for me, they sound like a caste tape, it's even lower quality than pre rendered cutscenes without your mod I think, the music sounds ok though
I use the modern installer. I'm having the problem when its started to patch the audio the Bink Audio Mixer pop up with the "error opening the audio input file" with every single audio its patching and I have the Blink Rad Tools and .Net Desktop Runtime 6.0.32 programs installed.
That error indicates that the audio tracks could not be opened by the bink software due to some issues with the audio file. my guess is that the audio files probably got corrupt during the download and the bink software is complaining when it tries opening it. you can try re downloading the Modern type - data with the IDM software and this software should prevent such file corruption issues from happening, when you are downloading large files from the internet.
If this bug still persists, then I have a feeling its probably an issue from the bink software. at this point you can use the Cutscene Installer Old, to install this mod.
I'm having the following error when trying to patch the game with the modern English installer:
Error: System.OverflowException: Arithmetic operation resulted in an overflow. at WhiteBinTools_Core.FilelistClasses.FilelistChunksPrep.UnpackChunks(FileStream filelist, String chunkFile, FilelistVariables filelistVariables) at WhiteBinTools_Core.UnpackClasses.UnpackTypeA.UnpackFull(GameCodes gameCodeVar, String filelistFile, String whiteBinFile) at FFXIII2MovieAudioMod.PatchProcess.InitiatePatching(String albaPath, String radVideos64Dir, VoiceOvers vo) at Program.<Main>$(String[] args)
I'm on Windows 11 and have the Blink Rad Tools and .Net Desktop Runtime 6.0.23 programs installed. I also tried to disable my antivirus and to run the .exe as an administrator as well. It happens within a few seconds of starting the patch. My hardware is also very solid.
Hmm...the error indicates that something has gone wrong when the program tries parsing the filelist file. my guess is that the filelist file itself is corrupt or not in a format that the installer is expecting it to be. can you send me this filelist file here ?
Did you install any other mod, prior to installing this mod ? did you check if that mod worked out correctly ingame ?
Verify your game files with steam and then try installing this mod.
Verifying the game in Steam fixed it. The game also boots and plays just fine. Something was definitely either corrupted or missing. Kinda surprised me given that I had just downloaded the game.
For the record, I had installed a few mods beforehand, but it doesn't seem to have been them causing the issue from before. I was curious, so I installed them first again, in the same way to test what would happen. Them being applied already didn't stop the audio patcher from working this time. The mods I used were the ones listed on pcgaming wiki: console content patch and Leviathan's Tears Mod
Whenever I try to run the mod it briefly starts but then closes immediately without giving me the chance to select the launcher, could you please help?
Did you download the modern installer or the old installer ? If you have downloaded the modern one, then make sure to have the .NET Desktop Runtime 6.0.23 installed.
If installing the runtime did not solve your problem, then here are some additional suggestions that you can follow: - If you have the game installed on your C drive, then run the installer program as administrator. - Ensure that your antivirus software is completely switched off when the installer program is running. these softwares can interfere with the installation process in annoying ways and can sometimes cause the installation to fail abruptly.

After 4 years, I'm playing again FFXIII-2 and I was looking for some good mods.
