Looking forward to the eventual addition of maps, very happy to see this mod hasn't been dropped, but only improved upon Can i ask you a couple questions regarding scope for the mod?
It sounds like a huge undertaking to add the Dawn of Souls maps/dungeons, since most of them were dependant on the mini-quests inside them and all that entails, are you guys aiming for a middle ground compromise on this regard, or will you try and add the content as organically (natural feeling as the PSP/GBA port) as possible?
It's wild that the Souls of Chaos and Soul of Rebirth content is not included, it reminds me of how Chrono Trigger suffered the same fate from having part of it's DS extra content cut. (Despite the remaining half of it being lackluster.)
I was surprised to see this was being worked on in the first place, but i'm glad someone took it as a personal project, hopefully it comes to fruition in the future.
Have you considered tackling the Soul of Rebirth content too eventually, assuming you manage to finish FF1 up?
I'd like to do Soul of Rebirth when this one is done, but I'm not sure how it would even work in the PR, given that it's essentially a separate new game starting from an existing save. It makes me sad, because FFII is the only game where the extra content actually has genuine story value!
I really appreciate you trying to restore the extra dungeons, the game is quite barebones without it. I will keep checking in to see if you figured it out, keep at it my friend, you rock. I honestly think square just removed it to save time and money which is kinda lazy if you ask me.
Every month or so I come back to this mod with the skills I'm learning from my FF3 PR NES graphics mod (which involves a lot of map editing), and each time I think I'm coming closer to making adding new maps work, but I haven't quite gotten there yet!
I actually kind of like the psp port of final fantasy 1. So i sincerely hope you get all this figured out so we all can hve the truly definitive versin of ff1. Maybe once you get that all sorted out, you could possibly begin doing the same thing with ff2, 5 and 6? They all had extra content too that should be brought to the pixel remasters. IM not sur about if you can do anything with ff4 though, cuz that game got way more than just extra dunegons and bosses.
I look forward to you makig this game truly complete. =)
I've been trying to find Shinryu in the Castle of Trials for almost a week now, and it won't appear no matter what! 😩 It absolutely shouldn't be taking this long to find one monster! Can you increase the appearance rate for this monster so that people can find it without losing their sanity in the process?
Oh no! I think the bonus bosses are mostly double the appearance rate of Warmech, so they should be showing up not too horribly infrequently; I hope you've been able to find it by now (and sorry for the delay in replying!), but if not, it may be a bug.
