I have always loved the Final Fantasy VI-style sprites, so it's not surprising that I am a big fan of Shiryu64's Pixel Keeper mod for FFI PR. However, sometimes I like a nostalgic playthrough of the first Final Fantasy that gives me the same vibes as the original NES version, and not all of the Record Keeper/Pixel Keeper sprites worked well for that. Meanwhile, I also like the Amano Warrior of Light (first appearing on the OG Famicom boxart, but probably better known from Dissidia), and there were several sprites Record Keeper had given him that hadn't been put into FFI yet.

As a result, there is this mod, which either takes sprites directly from Record Keeper or creates them using the Pixel Keeper sprites as a basis!

It offers the following sprites:
  • Nameless Warrior as Warrior - The Nameless Warrior is the Warrior of Light, just without his iconic horned helmet. This sprite is taken directly from Record Keeper. Works great with the Pixel Keeper option to have the Warrior of Light sprite as the Knight, or the option below to do something similar.
  • Classic Monk - This attempts to create a Monk sprite in the style of FFVI/Record Keeper, based on the Pixel Keeper Monk, but with the colors and vibe of the Famicom/NES original.
  • Classic White Mage - As with Monk, only this is based on the Pixel Keeper White Mage sprite and is much lazier (basically all I did was recolor the hair to red).
  • Warrior of Light (Amethyst Armor) as Knight - The Warrior of Light again, this time with his red Dissidia outfit that harkens back to the original Knight's color scheme. Again, taken directly from Record Keeper.
  • Classic Master - Again, I used the Pixel Keeper Monk as basis to create a Master sprite that reflects the Famicom/NES original.
  • Classic White Wizard - The Pixel Keeper WW, but with the hair recolored, the robe extended to floor length, and the yellow bow removed, all to resemble the original Famicom//NES original more.
  • Classic Black Wizard - Based on the Pixel Keeper Black Mage, but with no hat; as in the Famicom/NES original, the BW's face is exposed. (I used the Thief sprite as the basis for the BW's face.)

All also have map sprites, pretty much all based partially or wholly on those in the Pixel Keeper mod.

I highly recommend accompanying this mod with the Pixel Keeper mod linked above, to ensure your characters all appear consistent in style (since this mod doesn't change all playable characters, those not included in the mod will be the standard PR-vanilla sprites unless you install this as well).

Installation Instructions:
Unzip the "Pixel Keeper Add-On" folder into your Magicite folder (usually StreamingAssets/Magicite; if it doesn't already exist, you will want to create that folder to hold any Magicite mods).

You can install all of the included sprites, or only some of them! If there are any you don't want to install, just go into the mod directory and delete the directories listed below:
  • Nameless Warrior as Warrior (bc_ff1_p001 and mo_ff1_p001_c00)
  • Classic Monk (bc_ff1_p003 and mo_ff1_p003_c00)
  • Classic White Mage (bc_ff1_p005 and mo_ff1_p005_c00)
  • Warrior of Light (Amethyst Armor) as Knight (bc_ff1_p007 and mo_ff1_p007_c00)
  • Classic Master (bc_ff1_p009 and mo_ff1_p009_c00)
  • Classic White Wizard (bc_ff1_p011 and mo_ff1_p011_c00)
  • Classic Black Wizard (bc_ff1_p012 and mo_ff1_p012_c00)
