Changelogs
Version 1.0
Initial version.
This is a mod that restores the in-battle positions of your party members to something approximating the formation they had in the original releases of Final Fantasy for the NES and MSX: one vertical line facing the enemies (though with a lot more pixels to work with than those systems, they have a little more room between each other to breathe than their 8-bit versions had). I created it to work with my MSX Visuals mod, which restores the 8-bit graphics from the MSX-2 release of the original game. (Keep in mind that this just changes the party position, so enemy positions are unaffected.)
Note that I am not the first person to come up with this idea: randyrobbinsmusic has a Classic Party Positioning submod as part of their Origins Normal Mode Rebalancing mod, and I definitely looked at their mod to figure out how to do mine. Unfortunately, it hasn't been updated for version 1.1.0, and it uses Memoria, so it is broken for the moment; also, the specific positions they gave the party members weren't a great fit for the battle screen setup my MSX mod uses, so I created my own version.
Installation: This mod uses Magicite, so you will need to install that first if you haven't already. Extract the mod folder into your Magicite directory (which is usually StreamingAssets/Magicite, unless you've changed the default; if you've already installed Magicite and the Magicite directory doesn't yet exist, you can just create it).
Screenshot mods: The mods used in the included screenshots are my aforementioned MSX Visuals mod and the Classic font from my Dual Font Pack - NES and PSP(-ish) Fonts mod.
