This is a font pack that includes two fonts:

  • "Classic": This is the original pixel font from Final Fantasy's original US release for the NES, created by me using FontStruct. I've created my own version of extended characters based on the originals (or at least all the extended characters I could think of), so it should work for most non-English languages using the Latin alphabet as well. Note: This font does have some minor issues regarding the numbers; specifically, a few places where the numbers don't get properly resized won't display properly (even more specifically, the time on the menu screen and characters' levels will sometimes not properly show all characters due to their width), but for the most part it works properly.
  • "Modernized": This is an existing modern, high-resolution serif font (Aldine 721 Bold BT) that was the closest proper font I could find to the font the PSP rerelease of the original Final Fantasy used. It's not one-to-one - I'm fairly certain this is the font they used as the basis for the PSP font, but there were some changes made to customize it that this version doesn't have - but overall I'm pretty happy with it as a high-res version of the PSP font.

Installation: Extract the files into your FINAL FANTASY_Data/StreamingAssets directory and choose to replace the existing font_en.bundle and font_ja.bundle.

(Note: Even for non-English languages, for some reason it uses font_en.bundle, so this will handle everything using the Latin alphabet: French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Brazilian Portugese.)
