look, i know the game came out in 2020 and fanboys are impressed but honestly the game looks dated and its color is a bit washed out. defiantly looks like it should have been released in 2014 or 15 when they first hyped it up, which was way too soon because the hype was gone by the time it was released...
Need some help with this mod, so I downloaded the Vulkan version for this and did as the instructions indicated, but for some reason my game always crashes. Any tips to fix this?
The Vulkan version should only be used by people who have installed the DXVK-async files and enabled their game to run in Vulkan.
STEP 1: Make sure your game is in DX11 mode, otherwise this won't work. There are two options to do this: 1) add "-dx11" in your epic store launch options for the game. 2) open epic_emu.ini from Final Fantasy VII Remake -> Engines -> Binaries -> ThirdParty -> EOS and add " -dx11" after AppName=FFVIIRemakeIntergrade -> so it looks like AppName=FFVIIRemakeIntergrade -dx11, save the .ini file.
STEP 2: How to add DXVK async to your game ( DXVK is a DX11->Vulkan wrapper that bypasses the shader compilation of the game and allows asynchronous, stutter-free shaders to work) 1) Go to : DXVK async github and download the dxvk-async-1.9.2.tar.gz file. 2) You need to copy the files d3d11.dll and dxgi.dll from the x64 folder into Final Fantasy VII Remake -> End -> Binaries -> Win64. 3) Download and install the Vulkan version of my preset. 4) Run the game!
Your game will crash if it's still running in DX12.
Disclaimer: DXVK is buggy. You'll be better off running the game in DX11 with the FFVIIHook mod and a tweaked Engine.ini file instead.
I saw your comments about this being intended for SDR. Just want to let you know that the SE version looks fantastic with HDR enabled on my Samsung Odyssey G9. Thanks a bunch for making this!
Because of that, reshades never look good and I always have to choose between HDR and a reshade. On the OLED monitor, HDR always wins.
Your SE reshade is the first one to improve the look of a game for me while keeping HDR and it honestly does wonders. Unlike a lot of reshades it doesn't blow contrast and saturation up and call it a day. It honestly looks incredible and you've significantly improved the game for me.
When I install reshade.exe from this zip to install reshade, the game will fatal error, I used dxvk (to make my game less laggy), I hope someone can help me, thanks a lot!
Idk if I'm stupid but I've been going through my local files and I don't see a (_.exe.) in any folder just the underscore, can anyone help or is this just something I can't fix
Since I made the switch to dx11 through the seamless gameplay fix, I can't use the non vulkan version of your reshade. How do I do it? The file dgxi.dll in the main files would overwrite the files for that mod and make it so the game crashes and without the dgxi.dll from your mod, the reshade doesn't work. The vulkan method works but it makes the game super dark when reshade is active. Is there any fix for this? The rehsade worked perfectly on dx12 but there were endless stutters. Dx11 and the seamless gameplay mod instructions has no stutters but the rehsade doesn't work.
Great mod! Thank you! Has anyone noticed a shift in color tone when using the SE settings? It's a split second, but if you look you can see the color tone flicker from blue to orange constantly. Any known fix? Thanks!
UPDATE: Fixed by changing the bloom setting from prod80_02_Bloom to PPFX Bloom. For some unknown reason, the default bloom setting in SE was causing the issue.

Default: The main preset with high contrast and Linear tonemapped HDR. Greater sense of depth/contrast.
Type II: A realistic exposure range using Square tonemapped HDR. Makes the daytime areas easier on the eyes.
Special Edition (SE): High contrast without tonemapped HDR, but not too overexposed. Looks good on HDR monitors.
Some estimates in case anyone needs it (these framerates are very playable).
From 120 FPS to 106.8 FPS
From 90 FPS to 80.1 FPS
From 60 FPS to 53.4 FPS
All ReShades cost performance. If anyone tells you otherwise, then they are full of BS.

Zero performance loss at full 4K on my 4090.
Thank you so much for your work!
