How do you edit .pak files? I want to change the fov from 65 to 70.

To say I am new to modding modern games would be putting it very lightly.

Go to the OpenFF7R page for an invite link to their discord and ask for resources and assistance from people who have a much better understanding of what's going down.

?The first step is getting umodelviewer (umodel_FFVII_PC.exe) and telling it to look at your /end/content/paks folder to that you can find the paks you want to look within.
I will copy paste these instructions which also have the name of the programs used within them from Syynx:
"?*find the .uasset using umodelviewer (umodel_FFVII_PC.exe) you want to edit, like for player stats for example: End\Content\DataObject\Resident\PlayerParameter.uasset.  - The .uasset file for this specific mod is "\end\Content\GameContents\DataObject\Resident\CameraSetting.uasset"
?*right click the uasset > save packages, that will place the editable .uasset file into UmodelSaved
you can then edit it with FF7R Data Editor, in resources
?*once you've made the edits you want and saved the .uasset in Data Editor (ff7r-data-editor.exe) make a new folder called "Whatever you want your mod name to be", place the End folder from UmodelSaved into that new folder
?*then drag that mod folder onto UnrealPak-With-Compression.bat (A file within the folders of a program called UnrealPakTool)"

All mentioned programs are linked within the discord and I'd say a good at least 30-50% of the major modders for the game are in that discord server.

your setting is just suited for my need , just like the camera distance of skyrim.
and that "a little further for combat" is also very nice for combat awareness,
it won't be  too far away to distinguish different units, what a masterpiece !!
much appreciated for your efforts, you make the whole  world better.

Love this mod sir/ma'am. Though I feel it's a bit too aggressive/distant at times. Could a few variants be considered with different steps?
I know that's more work for you, but it would be really appreciated.

i really like this mod, no longer need to use cheatengine to change the fov. Just wondering, is there a way to edit the .pak files? for the exploration fov is good enough, but i would like to tweak a bit for in battle fov. Thank you for this nice mod.

Can you make a FOV 80 mod without zoom, but it changes to FOV 60 during cutscenes?

    Install in /paks/~mods folder.???
Hi, can you explain more detail about installation? Do you mean create paks and mods folder?

I believe you create ~mod folder in /paks/ according to most other mods. I've always just put straight into paks without creating ~mods folder and haven't encountered any issues.

the files placed in the /~mods folder are higher in the load order than those in /paks.  Also, the further in the alphabet a files' name is, the higher in the load order it is.

Wow thanks for the explanation! I was wondering why everyone says to create a ~mods folder, when paks alone seems to work too. Now it makes sense.
