This is so close to what I want...looking for a save file that has all weapons, accessories, and materia levelled to a 'normal' amount, not MAXed. but at level 35 or around there. Anyone have that?
scorpion fight takes literally several hours to kill just chipping away at it's health bar. not sure if it's intended to be this grindy. level 37 and I have used all my weapon upgrade points.
It's interesting to see this kind of comment popping up, even post level buff.
Hours? Truly? It takes me about 10 minutes to kill him with no grinding and I'm not some kind of speedrunner or anything, I play pretty casually and un-optimally.
I would suggest uuh, idk save editing yourself to lvl 50 or something. I'm quite surprised to see people struggling with him, I think he's quite easy.
As it stands, I think the fight actually feels pretty good so I'm not buffing the starting stats any further.
I'm actually really curious, if there's any chance you can upload a vod of yourself fighting the Scorpion somewhere, I'd love to watch it and see what's actually going on, because fighting him for several hours is absurd. Again, it should take 10-ish minutes I really wanna see what kind of strategies you're trying to use here.
I'm using focus thrust/focus burst/lightning to build stagger and braver/lightning to deal damage once staggered, where I seem to only be able to get 1000-2000dmg per stagger. My biggest issue comes from the field generator, which I seem to only be able to break using a limit break (I've tried other abilities like braver, triple slash, and focus burst and they don't seem to break it). So I have to spend minutes building a limit break just to get him staggered and do maybe 2000 damage until the field generator resets and I have to wait minutes to farm another limit break to break it. Not sure if I might be missing something here but advice is welcome if I am.
What I do is just save Limit for the shield. You should easily have it up again by the time shield is reactivated. You have two characters and only need one limit to break shield, so you'll still usually have a spare to save for later. Shield phase should last seconds, all it takes is for you to fire a limit at it.
I'm guessing your using Limits outside of shield phase? I mean, idk what to say, you already know shield is skipped by limit, so just save limit for it.
In my playtests I only have to deal with only one or two shields this way and they are dealt with in mere moments, allowing me to immediately go back to dealing normal damage.
So I'm guessing when you said 'several hours' that has to be hyperbole right? I can't see this fight taking longer than around 30 minutes if you don't know about Limit breaking shield. I mean surely you didn't sit there for *several hours* charging limit against shield?
I only used limit break on the shield generator. And it was not hyperbole as much, as I wish it was lol. I'm just having trouble getting good damage in even when staggered. I'm mainly using barrett as a revive bot so maybe I could be getting more damage with him but his gatling gun only deals 2-3 damage per hit. Will try again and see if I have any better luck, thanks.
Yeah that's the issue with this save, some items that are given to you by main story NPC's won't appear as they should, since the save assumes you already got them in Normal mode. This was the case with Iron Blade and Ifrit, which is why I added them to your inventory at the start.
Light Machine Gun was given to you by Biggs I believe? So that checks out, I have updated the save to give the player Barrett's Light Machine Gun from the start to solve this. As for your save, I'm afraid you'll have to edit in the weapon.
Thanks for posting and letting me know, if you notice any more crucial items like this, I'd love to know about it so I can update the file.
Unfortunately I haven't had the time to fully playtest the save with the imminent release of Rebrith on PC, so comments like this are a huge help! tysm!
Hello, I was just about to post a warning about this since I downloaded the original save. Good to see you already worked it out.
In my playthrough, I got Cloud's Iron Blade just fine, but never got Barret's Light Machine Gun, even when I redid chapter 6 in easy mode. In the end, I edited it in during chapter 13 using Kingdom Save Editor, but the weapon seems to be bugged. I was still able to get Lifesaver, but slotting in materia seems to be completely broken and tied to Aerith's Arcane Scepter, which got removed and I had to rebuy in Sector 5 later. Trying to automatically reslot the materia in the LMG to another one of Barret's weapons seemed to break those too.
This wasn't completely game-breaking, but anyone else who tries it should be careful. Just get Lifesaver and then leave the LMG alone.
Still in chapter 13 for now, but this was the only important item I was missing.
Those issues are concerning, I'm investigating it.
So far the LMG on my save seems to be working perfectly fine. I have no issues so far, but there are a few more things I wanna playtest with it so I'll edit this comment if I find anything
I don't mean to sound accusatory, but potentially this is an issue with the settings on KHeditor when you put in the LMG yourself
I downloaded your save file and am playing with mods. No matter how many I add, I am not able to outpace the Scorpion's Auto-Repair. I upgraded both Cloud and Barrett's weapons to max damage output, including a 2x Weapons Upgrade mod. Is there even a viable strategy for getting past the first boss??
Yeah, I just did it again to refresh myself for this comment.
I cleared auto repair on the first stagger, one limit break, no summon. I even accidently missed the stagger window with my Limit. Have you remembered to upgrade your weapons?
I don't know what to say, it was certainly quite easy enough. If you're having trouble I'd suggest chapter hopping to level up I suppose.
After some deliberation, setting character levels to 25 is a bit low. It's incredibly difficult to out-DPS the Red Scorpion's Auto-Repair, in hindsight I should have set character levels to 35.
If needed, you can easily level up by grinding with a little chapter hopping a little or using a save editor. Very sorry, I'll update the save when I get time!
My suggestion would be using the stats and inventory from the new "Head Start" mode that was just implemented. I just got the game on PC and wanted to start a new game on Hard mode, so I took another minimal completion Hard mode save that someone else had uploaded here and used a save editor to copy everything from a new Head Start save into that. I'm really happy with it.

I decided to leave it out for now. The save is meant to be very minimalist for Hard Mode, so I didn't like the maxed out Materia.
Scorpion feels much more reasonable lol
He's still quite a challenge but the difficulty evens out pretty quickly from there
