The beginning of the game (cloud alone) is way too hard to be enjoyable... :/ (you cant farm or anything). I got it after a lot of retires :x
I give up, dying on every trash mob is not what I was looking for :/

I was looking for challenges to run on stream as well and always struggled to find a fitting one for FF VII R. just finished lvl 1 of the OG and now i was wondering if i can do a Hard mode challenge or lvl 1 for remake as well.
Does this mod allow you to play the game on hard mode (enemy variants, additional boss phases, item lock etc) right of the bat?

Thank you for the mod! Do the changes also apply to the DLC intermission in Normal mode?

Good question. I have done 0 testing on this.  I assume any common enemies that were in the original will work properly and any new enemies will probably be super easy to beat because they won't scale with your level and they won't be buffed properly.

This is really great, I've been enjoying it a lot, although how over-powered the enemies are frankly gets pretty repetitious considering how many battles there are.  I realize that's part of the objective, though.

In light of this, I think it would be a good idea for there to be a version only featuring the item, equipment, and weapon mod rebalances, which seem like the real highlight of this effort, since there are a lot of other mods that allow players to adjust the HP, damage, and stagger resistance of enemies to their own tastes.

    In any case, great job!

It does work on new game plus.  However the enemies do not scale.  The enemies on chapter 1 for example are hand balanced for a level 7-9 player.  If you come in at 50 they will not scale to your level and you will crush them.

ah that makes sense. dont suppose you would ever do a version for a new game run. as the no items thing in hard mode puts me off. I would rather have tougher fights then just be handicaped from the vast majority of options taken away from me. thanks for the reply

I agree that's why I reworked normal difficulty. I hadn't thought of doing another run at new game plus... hmmm

Does this work with existing saves or a new game start is required?

It will work with existing saves.  However this will be difficult to play as I give extra XP and AP throughout the game so you will be a lower level and lower spell level against an already hard set of enemies.

Hey ggajeremiah, I noticed that after staggering enemies 3 times your limit gauge is not fully charged, did you increase the limit gauge or reduce the limit reward/enemy staggered?
If it's the second one, do you plan to release individual mod for say; 700 limit reward/stagger?
I'd love to get a seperate 2x AP reward and 0 mp regen to try on my normal playthrough as well.

There are some small changes to the limit gauge.  However you do end up getting limit more often in this mode because enemies hit you harder.  Later in the game you will get limit often.
