Real pity this isn't available for NPC Jessie, as that is the only thing I'm interested in and this is really an awesome-looking costume. I'm really not interested in changing any character for another atm because I really want to keep my immersion in the game. Well, perhaps some time in the future, when I have quite a few canon playthroughs under my belt. But either way, wanted to take the time to leave a comment in encouragement because the mod really does look incredible.
Thanks. It's more a technical limitation than anything else give the way the game files are made and handled and what's required for the emissive glow to work. But I hope you'll try the mod someday. It's a different experience actually playing as Jessie, plus you get to have her in the game far longer than you normally would. It's still immersive, especially once you get used to it, just in a different way.
This mod looks reeeally good, just a shame that it can't be used on NPC version. In a world where there are just not enough alternate outfit mods for Jessie, would really be a boon to have it as an option. Unfortunately, I don't plan on replacing Tifa with Jessie so I'll have to miss out on this, but its super impressive nevertheless
Thanks, and I hope you'll reconsider. It's a fun experience playing as Jessie, believe me, and it's a shame that Tifa devotion keeps some people from trying it out. That, to me, is a downside of being so enamored with her. It prevents people from setting her aside, even temporarily, so they can experience something new. Also the unfortunate habit of seeing Jessie only as an NPC rather than being willing to explore possibilities they might never have considered before. In short, Tifa devotion takes away from Jessie and diminishes her imo.
Btw, did you know that Jessie's being added to Dissidia Opera Omnia? She's already there in Japan, and she'll be in the global version in February. Considering that the playable roster is mainly only PCs (and a few antagonists) from various FF games, her addition is a bit unusual considering her current status as an NPC in her source game. But it may mean that SE is starting to see her as more than that. Letting her fight in Dissidia alongside protagonists from across the FF series just as if she was one of them isn't something they do for just any NPC. So if they think of her as more than that, then maybe we can, too.
I am curious about the challenges of replacing the default Jessie's outfit with this one. It is an awesome outfit for her, and you managed to get it working with Jessie's mesh model with the custom new outfit. But I wonder why you haven't made it available for the NPC? I would think it's easy enough to do, but there might be some challenges that I'm unaware of.
NPC Jessie simply doesn't have enough materials to make this mod work since you need 2 extra for the emissive glow. Playable Jessie (which is based off of Tifa) has just barely enough as it is. And you can't just add more because the game crashes if a model doesn't have the exact number of materials it's expecting. Models have different materials on them for face, eyes, hair, skin, etc. But different models use different amounts of materials, so it's not all the same. For example, Tifa uses 2 materials for her outfit while Jessie uses just one. And Jessie's eyebrows are part of her hair material while Tifa's are separate. So as I said, NPC Jessie has fewer to work with, and not enough to make the emissive glow work. But aside from that, I also want to promote the idea of playable Jessie and seeing her as what she could be rather than just what she's been allowed to be so far.
Thanks! And you're welcome. Unfortunately, it doesn't work on NPC Jessie. It's only for the playable version because of the extra materials needed to make the emissive glow work and also to help promote the idea of playable Jessie.
Does it matter which file from the Purple Dress mod is used? There's 4 .pak files in it's rar. TifaPurpleChina_p.pak TifaPurpleNoGlove_p.pak TifaPurpleStandard_p.pak TifaPurpleWutai_p.pak
Standard and NoGlove should cover everything, the others replace Tifa's other dresses. But you can use them too if you want so that no matter what dress you get, it'll still show Jessie.
I LOVE this!!! Actually I wanted to use this costume on my first playthrough, but the thing is, I don't want to use Fully Playable Jessie until a later run because I feel that would be too big a change. I read the reason in the description for why it's this way and that's fair, but I just wanted to say I would happily give up the emission effect if it means having the option to wear this on NPC Jessie for my first run. Either way, I will be installing this eventually! Thank you :)
Thank you. I know it's a change, but to me that's the whole point of modding, to expand what's possible rather than stay with what's familiar. And part of the reason this mod is playable only, aside from the technical issues, is to encourage people to start seeing Jessie as more than an NPC and get a glimpse of what she could be, to help them see her in a whole different way. Besides, with this, you get to have Jessie in the game much longer than you would otherwise. I'm glad you plan on using the mod, though. :)
Thanks. Doing an NPC version of this would be much more difficult though, because her model doesn't have as many materials to work with, and you need extra for the emissive glow. It's not that I wouldn't want to (although part of the reason I did this mod was to further promote the idea of playable Jessie), it's just that it might not be possible.
Thanks but no, this mod is only for playable Jessie because of all the materials needed to make the emissive glow work. The other playable Jessie mod that's a requirement for this one is for the text changes and other additions I plan to make to it later to be included in all my playable Jessie mods. It's my hope that doing these mods will help people to start seeing her as more than just an NPC and open up their eyes to what she could be.
Thanks! It would have to be rigged over him, reweighted, and resized as well as have all the textures and materials renamed to match his and put in over them, so it's possible, but it's a lot of work and isn't high on my list of things to do at the moment.

Btw though totally irrelevant, this costume reminds me of Kung Fury lol
Does this mod work on NPC Jessie as well?
Thank you!
