I just stared playing and installed this mod. In two simple words, AMAZING WORK!! I can't wait to put countless hours into this game with a fresh new perspective. Thank you to the mod creator for giving this to us for our enjoyment.
I've tried getting this to work but just can't for some reason. Tried putting the folder in ~mods, have also tried putting the pak, ucas and utoc in the mods folder.
Only thing I can think is that I have the game installed on E:// not C:// but that doesn't affect any other mods so I'm not sure.
For now, I have no idea how to do it, but if someone has a solution they are welcome to modify the mod for better version. The mod isn't perfect it need somes tweaks.
are you developing a blueprint from in 4.18? may i ask how you devised this mod? i see your using the ~mods folder, so i wasnt sure of your approach.( i was actually trying to do something similar in ff7 remake)
No, I haven't touched the UE editor yet. I edited the CameraSetting.uasset in End\Content\DataObject\Resident\ then repacked it. I'm not sure if it's possible to activate a modded uasset and restore the original one on the fly using this method.
I used the FF7RDataEditor for the editing, so I didn't need to cook the uasset or create a Blueprint from UE4.26. It work, but it's very limited.
Anything I can do to help? I started a business this year and have quite a bit more free time (I know, counter intuitive) and I'd be happy to spend some of that doing grunt work for cool mods.
This is absolutely how I imagined a modernised version of FF7 should be played. I LOVE how it transitions from 3rd to 1st so intuitively. There's some animation smoothing to the camera rig and its just pleasant (most likely UE doing the magic here).
I encountered a small issue twice, where mounting/unmounting where the camera clipped through the ceiling caused the camera to become hard-stuck in place - detaching from the character. Character then moved independently while camera stayed. Ends up bricking the game staying in that state. A quick save/load rectifies no problem so its not a big issue.
I really hope someone takes this mod further by adding 1st person animations!
Just thinking out-loud, but could this also be fixed with the console (via FFVIIHook) by enabling then disabling freecam? Playing around with it, it seems to reset the camera behind the character.
Not a perfect solution, but might help without having to reload?
there is also an issue in ch. 5 when trying to sleep on the cruise ship after the competition, the camera is too close to let you select the option to sleep and stepping away makes cloud too far away so the hammock becomes unselected.
Ive been using it since chapter 2 and am about to head to upper junon in chapter 4, so far i enjoy it and have encountered no problems but i was wondering if you could do one with an 80 FOV? i prefer no chocobo versions if you are willing and only want to make one.
Tips for anyone else who want to try the same thing -
- Make sure you've reset your standing height/origin and recentered view via the UEVR menu once you've loaded a save. - Under Camera in the UEVR menu, you can offset the forwards/backwards position by about 55-85, so characters and objects won't disappear once you get near them. The are three boxes with 0's in them when you load the camera menu, you'll want to change the value in the first box only. - You can use the No HUD reshade mod below to hide the UI (which can be bound to a button via the reshade in-game menu) No hud ui toggler (Reshade) (Transparent hud option) at Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Nexus - Mods and community
I'd love to find a way to adjust player movement speed, since currently it's not ideal for first person VR. If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.
