KNOWN PROBLEMS
// This game is poorly optimized on high performance gpu (4080-90), providing very little difference with lower performance gpu (4060-70), i think it is a problem due to bad optimization done by square enix in the porting from ps5 to pc. at the moment this thing can't be fixed //
// Feedback me only graphic glitches caused by my mod, not bug caused by square enix, please.. Performance problems is a square enix problem, i can't solve it //
// Little pop in in cities, it's game bug, can't be fixed totally, but it's very reduced in 7.0 version //
PATCH NOTES 7.5
// Now mod is in "Part 1" and "Part 2" //
// Pop in bug fixed with a lot of parameter and new reccomended mod "LOD Fix - Optimized Clarity" , but with this mod game drop -5fps - performance or pop in totally fixed, choice is yours //
// Random crash on boot fixed //
// Stuttering Fixed //
// Shadows & Lights fickering finally fixed //
// Forced game to can use 100% of vram (original use max 85%) //
// Forced game to use 100% of cpu cores if needed (expecially during shaders compilation) //
// Significantly improved shaders compilation, very faster with new 50+ parameters //
// Latency reduced (input lag) with new 30+ parameters //
// Fixed foliage and grass pop in //
// Improved lights and shadow draw distance x5 , foliage and grass x3 //
// Totally removed cromatic aberration, motion blur, dept of field and film grain. finally. //
HI! With the mod "LOD Fix - Optimized Clarity" recomended by you, in the hotel at Gold Saucer And the Protomateria challenges in Corel, the shadows are broken. They flicker like you're at a disco. Without "LOD Fix" mod all work fine. It's a shame because with the two mods everything runs smoother.
I have used this mod before, and yes, the pop in its practically solved. That's fine.
Without LODFix almost shadows works fine. A little bit flickering in front of Cloud at the end of the video only.
But with LODFix the shadows go grazy XD
Its only feedback. I'll play without LODFix, since with your mod I barely get pop-in while playing. But it's true that with both mods at the same time the experience is smoother.
the amd settings i recommended are the best overall settings, for this specific game there is simply too bad optimizationi recommend keeping lee shadows to=2 or =3 with lod fix
So ?.. How can i fix this ugly shadow without the flickering bug ?.. 'cause currently, i have to disable the "#sg.ShadowQuality 3" (or more) to fix the flickering (eg in Tifa house) btw, even if i set the "sg.ShadowQuality 5" shadow remain ugly like that :
if you remove "sg.ShadowQuality=5" game renders shadows at the original resolution (256p), in my mod i increased this resolution to 2048p, but this setting cause shadow bug in some amd gpus.. at the moment i don't have a solution to this problem, you can try to change the shadow resolution "=2048" to 1024 or 512.. i don't know how to solve it because it's a bug present only on some amd gpu that i discovered because you reported it in this chat. i have a 4060 and i don't have this problem, i can't solve it because i don't have an amd gpu on which i can test
only solution is remove "sg.ShadowQuality=5" if you have this bug, or change to "sg.ShadowQuality=2" / "sg.ShadowQuality=3"
The game still stutter a lot for no reason... even when just moving my camera around without moving my character....... Installed the DLSS-Swapper & FFVHook correctly, and rivathuner cap at 120fps.
GPU : NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 CPU : AMD Ryzen 9 - 9950X3D Mem : 64 GB RAM Res : 3440 x 1440 - 240Hz - 21:9 - GSYNC Sys : Windows 11
Texture pop in is a known issue with this game, I was able to fix it only by also installing the LOD Fix mod and setting #sg.ShadowQuality=5 or sg.ShadowQuality=2
the game is a badly optimized console porting, a little stutter always remains, I solved it only by locking the framerate to 60 in nvidia control panel, >60fps causes little stutter, the mod limits the problem but does not solve it. I am not square enix, I can mitigate the problems, but I cannot solve the programming errors due to a bad console porting
if you want to play without stutter lock game at 60fps in driver panel and play at 60 fps. >60fps = little stutter
No, I think he is right. DLSS doesn't work anymore, and changing the setting in game doesn't improve FPS, which would make no sense it if it was working
i disabled dynamic resolution, this probably disables dlssmy performance is good, i'll try a new version without dynamic res disabled next days for you
Putting this here to save some other hopeless bloke like me who doesn't know what they're doing some time - If you're curious why it's stuck on 1080p in game settings / nvidia app settings, apparently in windowed borderless it runs off of your native res so it's not actually running at 1080p even though it says it is and is unchangeable in settings. This might be common knowledge among the modding community but it certainly wasn't for me.
Really stable! Love it! Few stupid questions but I had my console from hook enabled to P. It stopped working and really bummed since I love to use free camera for screenshots. How do I enable depth of field back? I'm one of those who like it. UE4SS reports F10 at the log but doesn't do anything. Sad.
The performance with this INI is very stable on my computer and looks great. But the foliage, or its shadow, appears as you walk. Adding this parameter stops this from happening.I'm posting a video so you can see it. On the left, your INI, and on the right, your INI with the line added. Right in front of the character, in the upper half of the screen, you can see the effect as if the shadows of the plants were being generated as you walk.I don't know if this is implemented correctly or not, but everything works perfectly for me, and I no longer have that annoying popping on the foliage.
I added a line under [ConsoleVariables] Just above [SystemSettings]
Only problem with 8192 version is 25% framerate drop - 8192 version is only for >12gb vram gpu, But for 4080/4090 users framerate drop isn't a problem ;)
I reccomended 4096 version for all users, 2048 for rtx 2000 / 3000 series
I'll try (if it's possible, I'm not sure), in the meantime install the mods I recommended, especially the 5 character texture upscaling mods.. they greatly improve their appearance

Thanks
I set this mod only reccomended with a disclaimer
without the ini and mod, no prob with shadows but the general performance drops.
Thank you anyway
(old screenshot made in adrenaline 23.1)
If i change the parameters "sg.ShadowQuality=5" to 2 or disable it with # before the line, the flickering shadows dissapears.
sg.ShadowQuality=5 Flickering shadows like the video
sg.ShadowQuality=2 No flickering
#sg.ShadowQuality=5 No flickering
I don't really know what I'm doing. I'm just trying things XD

One bit of feedback, you should note that it disables DLSS. I had to manually edit the files to re-enable DLSS again.
A+
i suggest you to override dlss with DLSS 4 in nvidia app settings, better quality and less ghosting ;)

Let me know if this is wrong or bad.
I reccomended 4096 version for all users, 2048 for rtx 2000 / 3000 series
But can you improve the hair aliasing with DLSS?
these mods:
Cloud4K Upscaled Textures
Barret4K Upscaled Textures
Aerith4K Upscaled Textures
Yuffie4K Upscaled Textures
Tifa4K Upscaled Textures
all characters textures improves, hairs too
Its an anti-aliasing issue.
Does no difference at all to hair.
this is max possible i can do
Could you check something like upscaling quality? Since I run the game on DLAA.
The only thing you can do is set the resolution to 4k (in settings, windowed 3840x2160) to increase the definition as much as possible
