Update: I released a new update to the v2 preview that (importantly) fixes the missing Ascension animation and fixes a few other things (Aerial blade burst should be better now).
I'll also take a second to list out some of the changes for v2 in general: - Braver can now be followed up with Savage Braver - Focused Thrust can now be followed up with "Climhazzard" (just an upward slash) when used on the ground. I also added a new animation for an aerial version of focused thrust and allowed the move to be used in the air. - Blade Burst works better (all beams can damage the same enemy), has a follow up, and can be used in the air (different animation in the air) - There are now 3 limit breaks that can be used as follow ups (if you have a full limit break):
True Meteorain is currently a follow up to Meteorain (on the ground) and Infinity's End
Legacy of a Hero (Rush Assault) is a follow up to Soldier Slash Combo (which now has fixed VFX)
Ultimate End can be accessed by hitting triangle during the start up for Finishing Touch when you have 2 ATB bars (This move is totally busted, but there's only so long I can mod before I have to make something stupidly busted). It also refunds your limit bar, which I do not like. I'm trying to see if I can fix that.
- Cloud can rigger his counterattack outside of punisher mode by pressing square immediately after a perfect block. - You can now dodge or block to cancel out of punisher combo!!
I am still working on finalizing everything for a full v2 and have really appreciated the feedback you've all provided. I would like to fix the issue with "Ultimate End" refunding a limit bar, and I'm not totally happy with the placement of all the moves right now.
I'm not sure if I like leaping slash or where I should use it
I really want to incorporate "Flash" somewhere that works well and isn't totally broken. I think it's a cool move.
I may tighten up the timing for some of the normal attack combos to reduce the occurrence of comboing when you just want to switch to punisher mode. The downside of this is comboing will be a bit trickier (and as a result the opposite may happen and you'll switch to punisher by accident). I plan to keep the ATB move follow-up timing generous (at least for all the follow-ups that cost ATB)
I may look into adding the follow-up timing icon for some ATB moves
I do kind of want to add some sort of new magic-based move for Cloud, since he is meant to be a relatively balanced physical/magic attacker. I won't hold up releasing the final version for this though.
I will try and put together an infographic for the new combos and moves soon. Ideally once I finalize things, but probably wherever I end up on Friday.

This has opened up a whole bunch of possibilities. The mod page has an overview of the changes, but in short, there are now 3 new limit breaks accessed by pressing triangle at the right time (one of them is busted), I added some new ATB moves that can be similarly accessed by pressing triangle at the right time, I reworked blade burst, and I made some tweaks to existing moves/combos.
I also made it so that Cloud can trigger his counterattack outside of punisher mode by pressing square immediately after a perfect block. This is just something I wanted to try out, particularly because the new combos can make it difficult to switch to punisher mode when an attack is incoming.
I'm curious what you all think of the changes, and feel free to check out this playlist to see new work in progress builds as I test out new moves, as well as showcases when I get v2 wrapped up.
I'll probably let this version sit for a bit before making many more changes, so please be patient.
I’ve wondered this too. Remake uses a different version of UE4, so I’ll need to make some modifications to my set up to properly unpack and edit things, but I would like to try doing that
Can you file a bug/issue so I can track it? I may not be able to test/fix it for a bit. Sorry about that, please let me know if you run into any other bugs like that.
Been using the recent preview build of v2, and you made tons of awesome and really smart changes. The addition of all of these jumping slashes, and I don't know where these animations were pulled from, like Leaping Slash and Flash and Savage Braver are badass and much better at capturing the way that Cloud would probably fight. Allowing you to Punisher Counter in Operator mode is also really smart, because like you said, it's a bit of a pain in the ass to get into Punisher Stance at will since it is now more of an attack button. And now, all of Cloud's ATB moves feel worth using with their new followups, especially Blade Beam's multi-hitting properties, and holy crap I actually want to use Infinity's End because of the limit break after it!
I have no idea of how you could improve this but I look forward to finding out. Stellar work all around.
