Going to add this here and pin it for anyone else!
If you run into installation issues, "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package", it is most likely caused by the old version of Reshade we are using in the atma package. Simply select "NONE" on page 7 for the reshade and it should work fine! :)
ALSO, if anyone is using a non-steam version with a modified exe, the opera fix and defilter patches will not work.
Finally, if you wish to get the game but cannot buy it anymore, feel free to look on an "archive" website online ;) --->archive org, search for ff6 steam old
To be honest, I do not know 100%... like everything, there "might" be a way... However, since the game does not use the same file structure or even runs from a "exe" file, chances are very slim... Also, Since Atma is made using a "msi" installer, you'd have to run it on a windows version, then copy over the files... but games on android usually install their files in the protected area, so to even access that with a file explorer, you'd need to have a rooted device on top of it all... So really not an easy task...
Hey FireHawkX, just wanted to say thanks for this amazing mod. Breathes a lot of life into the lackluster mobile port and basically turns it into a 'definitive' version of FFVI. Thanks!
I would suggest you check out the "ff6-old-release" channel on our discord server if you want a bunch of new mods that were made but sadly never got added to the Atma installer... a lot of which were never uploaded to nexus either... obviously the brave steel sprites (which are on nexus) are also absolutely fantastic and can be installed easily on top after atma by moving the new files in the obb folder :)
yeah the "old" version is no longer being sold on steam, however it is "archived" in the "internet archive" org website... just search for "ff6 steam old" ;)
Could an offline version of the installer be created? Better for the preservation of the different parts of this mod and compatibility with the Steam Deck? This installer does not work in Proton on Steam Deck. But Ive never had an issue with offline installers for mods on Steam Deck.
Atma actually already supports offline mode... but you will need to download the 1.4gb of data manually :) Basically, just create a "Mods" folder written exactly like that, Put it right next to the exe and ini file, and then put inside of it Every single download from the ini file (which you can open in any notepad+) :)
The reason why we do not provide it (as-is) is because of the liscence of a few of the 3rd party mods we use (like reshade, FFVI_Explore and the FFVI_FLB) which do not allow for re-hosting their files... so making a "full" offline bundle would not be nice since we wanted to respect those wishes.
FireHawkX ,I have trouble installing the Atma Weapon Multimod, when the instalation tries to download FFVI_Explore.zip I get an error 12157, for the record when I try the Explore URL from the .ini it downloads fine... I posted the install_debug.log on the ff6old-discussion on Discord, if you get the time to look it over that would be great.
did you get it sorted? i searched everywhere and didnt find any files in recent days... saw one from the 26th about that issue... i dont quite understand what is specific to your system to cause this to happen...
based on a google search : The error codes (normally either 12157 or 12029) seem to be related to SSL
to be fair, you can just download/install it manually from the rivernix server.. maybe atma doesnt like it if you install "just" that i have no clue :P https://rivernyxx.com/projects/files/downloads/34/FFVI_Explore%20v0.5d.zip
Yeah February 27, Eldritch1992, that was from me. I tried all kind of things, worked on it for over 3 hours, no matter what I do the installation dies when it tries to download the Explore, and manually installing wont help I think, the installation needs to download the Explore to install the mods, no way to point the installation to the preinstalled Explorer, not that I noticed anyway. I'm thinking it could be because I still use Windows 7, sometime later this year I'm gonna install 10 and see if that helps. I read somewhere that there is an offline installer with all the needed files included, supposedly its about 1G in size, honestly these days 1G is nothing, there should be an option to download that, that being said do you have a link to the offline installer?
if you want a quicker answer, just @HawkX on the FF6 "OLD" discussion and i'll get back to you much faster than here! :)
AS for your offline question, you could in theory make it yourself (i have one but never uploaded it anywhere since there were some issues with it that i do not recall since its been too many years) but to make it, you create a "Mods" subfolder next to the Atma exe and ini file, and you manually download the file from the urls.ini into that Mods folder, if it detects the folder being there, it will use that instead.
Finally, I was using Win7 when this was made and published, so that is definitely not the problem... perhaps a firewall or system protection could be preventing the connection from being made.. but its hard to know since i didnt make ff6-explore and we just use it as a tool...
PR does not have a "self installer" like this one... BUT the PR games do have a lot of mods as well.
Our Discord server has the "M3" program (source code on github) which stands for "Moogle Mod Manager" -- It supports a bunch of games (including all 6 FF PR titles) and allow to automatically install mods for all of the pixel remaster games.
HOWEVER, in the past week or so (January 2024), there was a big update to the PR games which broke about 40% of the available mods until someone fixes them. I do not own nor have I played any of them, but as an admin of the server I still try to stay informed of the news :)
my suggestion would be to grab the version that was uploaded on archive org website, search for ff6 old steam, the exe is unmodified in this one and the defilter/opera-fix will work fine :)
Just want to chip in here and say that I too was getting the "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package". Setting reshade to no or none allow me to finish the install with the mod working. Steam version on windows 11
yeah this is a "known issue" with THAT particular setting... the file name was missing 1 number and is ignored because of that... (it is actually fixed in a build that never got published that I do not currently have)...
WHAT you can do to fix it manually, open the file "URLs.INI", find the download link for the portrait mod you want, download the archive, and extract it (winrar or 7zip) to your game folder (keeping the directory structure and overwriting files when asked)... :)

the one thing that worked for me after an hour of troubleshooting and trial and error !
Edit: btw, I am on Win 10 - (old intel cpu, new amd gpu, if that matters at all)
Any ideas what's going on here or how I can fix? Is there another mod overwriting this?
Thanks!
