About this mod

This replaces all of the battle backgrounds with new and edited versions. Some are more basic color alterations, while others are heavily edited or replaced outright with entirely new ones.

Permissions and credits
This mod is an alteration of every battle background in the game. Some have received relatively minor color corrections, whereas others have gone through moderate to major overhauls or even outright replacements. The goal behind this project was to try and further "beautify" the backgrounds as well as combine the best elements of all versions of the game into one. For instance, many of the backgrounds are darker and/or more contrasty ala the SNES version. You may also notice new details based on the Pixel Remaster. Some were even swapped out and adapted from ones found in Brave Exvius.

A new final boss background is also included. It's based on one taken from Brave Exvius. This includes the triple tiered boss, which itself is now much higher resolution and no longer contains the dithering of the vanilla version.

The FINAL boss sprite however cannot have its resolution upped in the same way. Though I am including an optional edit of the sprite to remove the dithering pattern and alter the colors and lighting to help it blend in better with the new background.

To use this mod, you will need the FFVI_Explorer Tool to get the game into a state where it will load mods. The tool is also included in the Atma Weapon Multimod installer. They contain their own instructions. If your game's directory has an obb folder with about 14 other folders inside of it, your game is ready to install and use mods. When you download the mod, you will see two folders inside the archive, Battle Backgrounds and Final Boss Sprite. The Battle Backgrounds folder contains just the backgrounds, while the Final Boss Sprite one contains the aforementioned optional boss sprite. Both of these two folders include an obb folder. Extract either of the obb folders (or both) into the game's directory (where the original obb folder should be). Replace all files it asks you to. You should then be good to go.
