Thank you for this mod! The game was becoming unplayable for me with the squeaking and jingling. The mod works, but i wonder, should there be a remaining clacking noise when Clive runs? It almost sounds like a fire crackling, or wood smacking together, every time he takes a step.
Weird question, but you know the footsteps and some other sounds tend to be shifted to the left, where the character is at the screen? Is there a chance you can make a mod that centralizes those sounds? Or event, just the footsteps? That is driving me crazy, I cant play the game like this
Is there any chance this will have a non reloaded version? I'd rather keep my steam timer and launch it from there than to keep a mod loader installed.
I don't know how to go about doing that for a mod like this, but for what it's worth I don't think you have to actually keep running the game using reloaded; just launching it with it once for it to generate its .diff files should handle it. Using reloaded doesn't affect your steam play time, though, if that's what you mean by the timer.
I looked into this, but the problem is that Torgal doesn't seem to have separate sounds for running the way Clive and Jill do. With humans the game has separate folders for armor sounds, foot sounds, and voice lines that have hundreds of sounds each, but the animals like Torgal have thousands of footstep sounds but only about 30 or 40 other sounds, and it's hard to tell which dog noises are for what purposes (which, admittedly, I don't know what I expected). I could only find a few sounds that sounded like breathing unless I'm just looking in the wrong place entirely, so I feel like they're probably the same ones that are supposed to be used in cutscenes and other things.
I am down to remove all dogs sounds from the game + possibility of collateral just to not hear this breathing again. I'd be happy to remove Torgal altogether.
Same as somename919 I would be fine if all dogs went mute if it stopped Torgal from constantly breathing in my ear, I have not experienced this level of obnoxious ambient character sounds in a long time.
Is there any chance one of you could get a recording or two of Torgal making noises? I personally barely hear him in my game (you'd think I would, now that everyone else has stopped squeaking), which makes it hard to test fixes and to find his sounds in the first place.
is hard to record just the panting, but anything that is not a bark can be removed for me. I honestly think in stop the game until this mod release lol, have a dog panting on my ears all the time is soo annoiyng, even so i love Torgal.
Okay, bad news on this front. Psycore sent me a video and after looking over it I was able to find a spot where I can hear the sounds in my game, but I can't find them to remove them. I tried muting every sound Torgal has in his main voice files, but even that didn't do it. I think the problem is that he mainly gets loud when he's near a combat area, so it's probably considered a combat sound, and those sounds are much less organized and not clearly labeled so it would be a matter of going through several thousands of sounds looking for Torgal's. I'm only about halfway through the game myself, so even if I had time to do that I don't want to risk opening up a voice line that could spoil something that happens later on.
If anyone else wants to take it upon themselves, though, it's not terribly difficult to do. You use FF16Tools to unpack the game's .pac files, and then AudioMog to open the resulting .sab files to access the .wav sound files. The github pages for both tools have guides on how to put it all back together after you've edited the sound files.
Hello! Thank you for this mod it drove me nuts on the original PS5 version and it’s been great, however, I just unlocked a new party member who wears red late in the game (trying to avoid spoilers) and they still have the squeaking present. If it’s not too much trouble, would you be able to remove the squeaking from them as well. Thank you!
Sorry I'm late, but if you still need it I uploaded a new optional file that might help! I don't have the next party member available to test yet, but I'm pretty sure of who it is by now, so give it a try and let me know if it works.
This is probably a stupid question, but is there a way to use this mod without having to download a mod manager? It's literally the only mod I want and I hate the idea of having a program just for the one thing ^_^;
I don't know enough about the modding system to say for sure, but for what it's worth I think you're free to delete the mod manager once you've launched the game with it once to let it generate the diff.pac files in your data folder.
