IMPORTANT NOTE: After the release of patch 1.03, user reports have indicated that this mod most likely only runs properly with the official version of FFXVI. If you're trying to troubleshoot versions acquired through other means, unfortunately I am unable to provide assistance. I have no way to replicate the issues and I don't have time to potentially break my game installation to test it with unofficial versions.
Hey, great work fixing the double hood model on the outfit! Also the extensive customization options for the face and other outfit replacements were a welcome surprise and this is something I've been wanting for a while, so thank you! Unfortunately I seem to be running into a bug where Clive's normal hair model is retained and the "hood hair" is not applied. So when I toggle the hood up, the hair clips through the hood.
Also, if I'm understanding correctly, applying the desired appearance, in my case the shiny new metian, to the burnt black outfit would replace burnt black entirely with the shiny metian, right? However, that doesn't happen for me and burnt black outfit is retained, but the hood up toggle was applied with hair clipping. I had some mods enabled before this, and now I've disabled everything in reloaded II except for the mod loader, framework, and your reskin mod, of course.
Clearly I've done something wrong since those screenshots of yours look fantastic, so I guess I'm wondering if you'd know any other troubleshooting steps before I try a clean install. Thanks again <3
Edit: This bug also makes limit break interesting in that the hood itself completely disappears so the hair looks normal and the cape is missing that folded down hood lol
Let me do some testing. It's possible there's an issue with the code. I didn't fully test every single possible user config combination!
Hmm, it looks good on my end with choosing Shiny New Metian to apply to Burnt Black. What's your exact user config?
Also, can you try:
Disable all mods in Reloaded except for the Mod loader
Launch the game via Reloaded (this two step process resets the game back to its default unmodded state)
Exit out of game, open Reloaded again
This time enable Mod loader, Mod framework, and my mod
Launch the game via Reloaded again
You could also go a step further and do this more extensive process to start clean:
Go the Manage Mods section of Reloaded (triple gear button)
Select all FFXVI mods one at a time and click the Delete button (keep the Mod loader and Mod framework)
Exit Reloaded
Go to the Reloaded folder, typically found at C:\Users\Username\Desktop\Reloaded-II\
Open the Mods folder (C:\Users\Username\Desktop\Reloaded-II\Mods\) and delete the folders of any remaining FFXVI mods other than loader and framework
Open the Mods config folder (C:\Users\Username\Desktop\Reloaded-II\User\Mods\) and repeat deleting the folders of any remaining FFXVI mods other than loader and framework
Relaunch Reloaded again and go to the FFXVI menu
Double check that there are no FFXVI mods installed other than the Mod loader and Mod framework
Make sure the Mod loader and Mod framework are enabled
Launch the game via Reloaded again - this completely resets the game to its original base state
Exit out of game, open Reloaded again and reinstall my mod
Exit Reloaded again and relaunch it. This time enable (and config) my mod.
Hey, the detailed response is much appreciated and helped a lot.
I went through the extensive cleanup instructions that you described and led to me realizing something is indeed wrong with my installation. With zero mods installed through reloaded II besides the loader and framework, I still had the hair clipping with hood up glitch which was puzzling. After I discovered this I just went and reinstalled the game on a different drive to ensure clean files as well as reinstalling reloaded. Now your mod works as intended and there's no issues!
Before I reinstalled to different drive, I reinstalled the game on the same drive and going through the files showed that some files from FFXVI fix persisted, so maybe that had something to do with the bugginess I was experiencing? Either way, thanks for taking the time to make the mod and go above and beyond to help me out and maybe this experience will help others in the future <3 Now I'm off to grind ultimaniac in sexy fashion :)
This mod makes the game SO much more enjoyable - yay for actually seeing Clive's facial expressions! And LOVING Theo's hair option!!!
Weirdness, though, is that I started using the mod post-time skip on my first playthrough. I'm on NG+FF and just hit post-time skip section. After several loading crashes into the rescue-Branded cutscene and fight, I disabled this mod to get through there. Now I'm at the airship base for the first time, I saved, exited, and reloaded the mod, and Clive is completely gone, visually. His sword is running around but after a few feet that winks out of existence too. I've tried pretty much every setting change I can think of - primary outfit pre-skip/post/full game, alt outfit, backed up to V3.4 instead of V3.4.2, loading new saves, old saves, going back to my pre-skip save with NO mods and running the whole thing through again. Nothing.
As soon as I turn on this mod post-skip, Clive pulls a Casper.
Thoughts???
(Seriously very thankful for your hard and continuing work on this mod!)
Notes: Steam version, official and paid.
ETA: I've been attempting further troubleshooting (per your sticky post). No mod to just your mod, the game loads up with Alt appearance applied. No issues. I go to the Arete stone to change to Primary, and he pulls a Casper again. Still testing things out....
...last note. Think I figured out the common thread. It's Theo's hair. Something about that particular setting is making Clive disappear post-time skip. The rest of the mod functions as designed so long as I don't have that hair selected. Cid's hair is fine. So I'm not sure what is going on. It may be PEBKAC, cause goodness knows I'm not a modder, just a thankful user of them. :)
(((Anyone else think that Theo red hair looks like Cal Kestis???)))
Can you please either list your full config settings? Or post a screenshot of your Config?
You may have found a bug. I can't fully test this mod because of how many different config combinations there are, and floating sword usually means a bug. ^^;
I loaded up your new update and it did the trick! Yes, I'd had scar_33 and Theo hair together, great catch!
Last note of weirdness, in case it happens to anyone else: first time loading from RII, it went through the pre-menu splash pages and gave me a black screen with the loading symbol at the bottom, menu music playing in the background, and stayed there. Shutting down the game and relaunching with RII worked perfectly.
Thanks so much for your hard work! I have 2 mods enabled on this game (Reskin, Silent Torgul) and they're both yours. You do amazing work!!! Can't wait to see what you come up with next!!! :D
(Also, note, didn't think it was something you could necessarily fix because it's so in-depth of a video, but I also had to disable the mod post-Garuda fight for the cell conversation between Clive and Cid. Kept giving me loading screen of death cycle. No big deal, and certainly understood, just wanted to note it.)
I try to fix major bugs like invisible mesh ASAP! I'm actually pretty slow when it comes to new features/outfits/hair etc because I'm too much of a perfectionist lol
The cutscene thing is pretty strange and I haven't encountered it myself. It could be related to certain PC systems. Since my PC is pretty high end, I haven't had any of the stability issues others have seen. Outside of when I tried to upgrade my NVIDIA driver to try out DLSS 4 (which made my game crash constantly! I had to roll back my driver), I've never had any infinite loading or any other crashing when testing my mods.
As someone who's game modding experience goes back to OG Baldur's Gate and the TeamGB days up through multiple contributions to various CnC projects, I've learned this is the biggest bane for any mod creator. During the peak of Skyrim modding my OCD got so bad where everything had to be exactly as my brain was envisioning and if that wasn't happening I'd drop everything else and laser focus all time into figuring out why I couldn't do that one particular, minor detail. In the end I gave up modding. Not because I didn't enjoy it, honestly it held equal fun to actually playing however my backlog of unplayed games grew so long that I decided I was missing out on too much.
Yes, it's unable to update from past versions. This was a known bug unfortunately. I fixed the bug going forward, so after you manually download version 3.4.0, next time it will update automatically.
First of all loving this mod, you deserve my endorse and it works flawless. Is it possible to make the Semi-Prime Arm Metian mix with the Shadow Black Metian? I think it would look really good and keep up the good work! you are doin' amazing work here :D
Thanks for the endorse! No unfortunately it can't be mixed and matched. I would need to create a new custom Shadow Metian armor that has a semi-primed arm. I was planning to do that eventually, but haven't had the chance to work on it yet. I'm still trying to finish up Sleipnir's armor, which turned out to be much more difficult than I thought. Plus I get easily sidetracked by other mod ideas!
Sorry, I broke something last update. Version 3.2.1 should work with those settings. I assume you're using Clive 28 or Clive 33 hairstyle. I'm going to push a new update in an hour or two that should fix everything too. But if you don't want to wait, try downloading the previous file.
The newest version 3.4.0 should fix the bug with Clive's 28yr hair and 33yr hair! Sorry it took me a bit longer to release it tonight.
Don't worry, I'll work on it as soon as I have time! I have some other promised things I need to finish up, and outside of this hobby it's also a very busy month for me in general.
I do have to say, please don't get your hopes up that it'll be released very soon though! Those who are familiar with my work know that I take the extra time to make sure things are as flawless as possible. ^^;
Hello, thank you for making this mod! I'm excited to use it, but I can't get it to work...
Sorry if this error has been reported and I've overlooked it, I did look through bugs/posts and tried the troubleshooting options provided for other (somewhat similar) errors to no avail. I'm able to launch the game via Reloaded with other mods installed, but when this one is enabled, I get the error.
This is what I'm seeing in the log:
[22:34:51] Error while starting mod: ff16.skins.clivesappearancensfw [22:34:51] [Reloaded] Failed to Load Reloaded-II. Notes:
Using Steam Version of the game
Installed Reloaded II Version of FFXVI Fix
Running latest version of framework
Have tried reinstalling game/mod/reloaded
Have verified game files through Steam
Tried Running Steam/Reloaded II as admin and regular user
Thanks for the tip re: running Reloaded as an admin.
I did delete mod/user config folders during reinstall of Reloaded the first time. I tried it again expecting to provide an updated log, and though for the life of me I can't figure out what if anything I did differently, it worked this time 🤷♂️ No clue, but the mod is working brilliantly.
Thanks for taking the time to respond, and for your work on this mod!

Notes:
Any suggestions?
Have you done a thorough cleanup of your Reloaded mods, including deleting both the mod folders and the mod user config folders inside Reloaded?
Do you have Microsoft Onedrive managed folders? If so, avoid installing Reloaded in those folders.
Also, you should avoid running Reloaded as admin. That actually causes problems.
I did delete mod/user config folders during reinstall of Reloaded the first time. I tried it again expecting to provide an updated log, and though for the life of me I can't figure out what if anything I did differently, it worked this time 🤷♂️ No clue, but the mod is working brilliantly.
