Initial Release
The Custom Weapon mod enables the ability to design one weapon for each character from the ground up, giving it the exact attributes desired. Within the game files there are six weapons, one for each character, that are not actually used in the game. This mod utilizes these weapons when creating custom ones, changing their abilities and then inserting them into existing treasure spheres. These weapons begin at level 1 and are upgradable to the limit defined during their creation, potentially increasing strength and magic at each level, and/or ability resistances. Not all combination of abilities and values have been tested, so there may be game limitations that prevent certain features or abilities. This mod also allows you to pick the weapon model so the custom weapon can look like any of the existing character appropriate weapons. So, if you wished to make a weapon with abilities and stats exactly like one in the game, but look like a different weapon, you can.
Once the weapon has been defined, you are given a choice of 12 potential locations to "find" the weapon in-game. All of these locations are existing treasure spheres and will work with save files as long as the spheres are unopened. Six of these locations are in the chapters/areas leading up to Gran Pulse, five of the remaining six are scattered around Gran Pulse while the final one is in the Tesseracts. All the treasure spheres were chosen for their relatively low value rewards, such as gil, potion, Millerite, or material. Only one weapon can be placed in each sphere as placing a second weapon in the same sphere will overwrite the first one. Also, the results of creating two custom items for the same character are unknown as they share the same internal game file location.
This mod enables all the potential options for synthesized and auto abilities, even ones not normally assigned to weapons. If an ability is available on an accessory, it can be chosen for the weapon (e.g. Bangle's HP increase). Likewise, abilities that are only available for one character (Quick Stagger), can be chosen for any character's weapon, although it is not guaranteed to work. One of the few options not included in this release is the choice of dismantle components and quantities. This may be added in the future.
See the ReadMe file for more details as well as installation instructions. Should you encounter any difficulties using this mod, please post the issue. While I have done some testing, it has not been extensive.
This mod requires the "Game Tweaks" mod version 1.1.1 or newer and should be placed in the same directory.
