Will not install under Windows 10 64bit.
"printf" and "dd" don't seem to work for me so the batch just breaks after I type the option I want, pointing to "printf" and "dd" to not being part of cmd -- they seem to be for Unix systems?
Would it be possible for you to add instructions to get those working?
(nothing gets printed to log btw, the cmd window just closes without anything else after I pick my volume)

Install this application GnuWin download | SourceForge.net and include the bin folder to enviroment variable path, with this it should work

This is still an issue for me. File decompression works fine, then when I select the volume I want, I get the following:

"printf" is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file"

It appears that this mod is dead since it has been over a year since upload/update.

Git for Windows is probably the easiest way to get the required tools. Ensure that you select Use Git and optional Unix tools from Command Prompt when on the Adjusting your PATH environment wizard page. Everything else can be left as default if you don't care about git and just want to adjust the volume.

If you already have a cmd shell open you will need to close and reopen a new one to pickup the new tools. Try typing 'printf' to see if the path is setup correctly.

After installing the mod at the volume you want you may want to uninstall Git otherwise it will override some built in windows tools which could possibly interfere with other programs.

Doesn't work and mod creator doesn't care. Tried modifying both EN and JP audio, music still there.

Another an easy way if you want to mute the BGM with Nova Chrysalia mod manager Only!
If you launch your game with Nova Chrysalia as "Unpacked Mode" then:

Backup all the files inside 8000 folder FIRST!
    (steamapps/common/FinalFantasyXIII/white_data/sound/pack/8000)

Put the backup in a safe place!

Then delete all .scd files in this folder.
Now all BGMs in the game will be disabled.
The Cutscenes will always have background music because it is a pre-rendered video, unless there is no BGM in the video file.
