      Huh, so they changed it.
      Yes, multiple.
      1. Install ReShade first. Rename ReShade's ```d3d9.dll/ini``` to ```ReShade32.dll/ini```; Install FF13Fix normally, keeping FF13Fix as ```d3d9.dll```
      2. [THIS CAN ADD VISUAL GLITCHES]
Use DXVK as this update seems to have added support for it and install ReShade as vulkan using the installer.
The readme of ff13fix tells you how to use dxvk

You may need to search for the Shaders and Textures folders in your ReShade settings tab. I didn't but who knows.
Also, I only get it to launch 1 out of 3 times roughly, so don't be disheartened if it crashes the first time.
DXVK can grant you some extra performance, so try that first

    Useful comment from Who321:

Had a similar issue with it not showing or activating any of the effects and with no checkmarks.
Saw here about renaming the d3d9.ini file. I had done the initial rename of the d3d9.dll but not the d3d9.ini. When I checked for me it did automatically create a reshade.ini file but still ran into the same problem.

Here is where I found the problem and solution for me and maybe it could be the same for you. Don't know what caused it.
I opened and looked at the CleanPresetV2.ini in the game folder and in the "Techniques=" field was blank for some reason.

No problem with the mod but just something got messed up along the way in getting it to run first time it seems as the original CleanPresetV2.ini from the zip has the "Techniques=" line all filled out. It seems somewhere along the way that filled out section got wiped for some reason maybe when trying to run it first time without renaming d3d9.ini and then trying to activate it without success.

Extracting a new "CleanPresetV2.ini" file from the zip again and copying it to the game folder fixed this issue for me. Reshade compiles everything immediately and shows all the techniques checked as it should.

Don't know if this is the exact same issue but have a check of the "CleanPresetV2.ini" file that was copied to the game folder and the "Techniques=" line to see if it is incorrectly blank. Hope this helps.

Thanks for this great ReShade by the way,  great depth and vibrancy.

Hi. I'm already a few hours into the game and already have the FF13Fix and HD Project and HD models plus installed, but now I want to add this reshader as well. I read below that there's no need to uninstall the other mods but wanted to be sure that's still the case? Thank you

I also ran into one guide that said the below about this mod but it's now a couple years old so it might be outdated:

Apparently, you don't even need to install ReShade, and the files will work by themselves! Just put them in the proper folder!

    - Download the Clean ReShade Preset into your FF13 location. (For me, it's J:\Steam\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY XIII\white_data\prog\win\bin)

    - That's it! The game should automatically load the modified shaders when you start the game. (The ReShade interface should pop over your game for a couple seconds, load everything, and hide itself.)

Can I just do the above?

No. This will overwrite FF13fix' .dll.
However, I recently found out that you can open the ReShade installer via 7zip. Right click on the installer, 7zip, open archive. Winrar will probably work too.
Don't extract the d3d9.dll from my archive and take ReShade32.dll from the installer, it's gonna be much less of a hassle. :)

*I've just uploaded a newer archive which includes the correct naming for FF13fix as well as the old d3d9 way.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I should revisit my all of my old mods some day.. Just to check how many corner I've cut out of laziness :')

Heya me again. Small issue after installation, some shadows look off and out place (see screenshot below, it's more noticeable on Fang's face), like the shades need to be pushed down a bit. Could this be a resolution issue? Haven't gone through all of them yet.
FYI I also have FF13fix, HD Project and HD models plus installed.

Linked 2 more examples below pic.

Yes, this is a resolution issue!
Going by the screenshots it looks like there are huge black borders around the actual image..? That kinda looks like the culprit already if you're resizing the game window somehow.
To be precise though, depth buffer and game window resolutions seem to mismatch or the both are misaligned somehow.
You can try this, copied from ReShade's wiki:
Click on the "Edit global preprocessor definitions" in the Home tab
and add a definition called "RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_Y_PIXEL_OFFSET" with a
value of "-128". Adjust 128 to whatever resolves the offset you're experiencing. If this doesn't do it, try scaling instead: RESHADE_DEPTH_INPUT_Y_SCALE. This works in multiplcations

Yeah my issue with resolutions is on another level it's very annoying... I'm running the game on a Mac running Windows through Parallels, and I can't get Windows to display in the exact same resolution of my Macbook screen for some reason (it doesn't fill it up completely when running it fullscreen) so first there's that, THEN on top of that I'm plugging the laptop to my HD TV, which fucks up the resolution even more because Windows doesn't recognize the TV correctly (it's not letting me set a resolution that matches the TV's), resulting in the huge black borders you saw in the screenshots before. So I just used the TV's "zoom" settings to adjust and hide them... Sorry I know this is kind of offtopic, just hoping you'd get a clear overview of my setup situation lol.

That being said, when I run the game on my laptop display (no TV), I don't get those black borders all around, but I do get 2 at the top and bottom (see pic below), and still get the same visual issues with the shader... looks as if the shader doesn't "scale" taking the 2 black bars into consideration if that makes sense. Look at Sahz's hair and Vanille's skirt ruffles. I just can't make the game fill the screen using any of the resolutions Windows as well as the FFXIII Launcher give me.

Unfortunately I couldn't fix it using your method (or at least values I used didn't work), but I'm thinking this is an issue with Parallels so I'm gonna see what I can find about it from that side. Thanks for reading lol. I'll edit this if I ever find a solution in case anyone runs into this problem.

      Oh, check out CRU!
This might help you fix the resolution issue.
If that can't fix it, try the resolution scaling again. o^On the latest screenshot it really looks like the scaling one could improve or fix it. Looks stretched on the Y axis and just fine on X.

Is it possible to install reshade and these presets to an FFXIII installation that's already applied the FFXIII-Fix patch and is modded up with Nova Chrysalia? Or do I need to uninstall the fix first?

Rename ff13fix first, then install reshade, then rename both accordingly. No need to get rid of it entirely!
Or use the dxvk method. Installing ReShade as vulkan shouldn't add a .dll to the folder so no conflict should happen.
dxvk should be very safe to use at this point.

Why do you need the latest though? You can use the reshade d3d9.dll included in the complete package just fine, just rename as stated above
If you wanna try older versions of reshade in case you need a newer version than the one downloaded here.. mess around with version numbers in this link:

Hey, so I paid 5 bucks to get my hands on the RTGI from Pascal Gilcher, but I think I have no idea how to use them with your reshade? Do I need to drag and drop the "Shaders" files and "Textures" files from RTGI into your "reshade-shaders" folder? If so, everytime I do that I get an eror message saying that the 5 RTGI files that I just dropped into your "reshade-shaders" folders failed to compile?

Also what am I supposed to do exactly with your FF13.ini file for RTGI? I downloaded it and put it into the folder, but it doesn't seem to even do anything?

Ah, should update the preset for this.
He recently revamped his Shader library and it's got a new name and new parameters now - the current preset works for old versions only.
You should be able to get those as well though! 0.26 would be the version I used back then.

Made a video with a few realtime cutscenes featured in the first 7 chapters of the game using your RTGI preset.  I'm going to post another video sort of with a summary of its effects.

I can't seem to get RTGI to work with DX9 but it works with vulkan.  I'm trying to get it to work with DX9 because the vulkan version doesn't get captured with OBS recording (it records game without reshade lol),

Any idea why I can't get RTGI working on DX9?  I can't get the depth buffer to show what I need correctly.

No. I never had issues with dx9.. Until I tried just now. It outright won't start because of a DX error.
Add dxvk back to the mix and it starts up like it should.. I'm afraid I can't help you with this one

I have troubles setting up RTGI (Version 0.33.1). I can't get the DisplayBuffer to work.
When I force disable MSAA (with the custom launcher from the mods) it works just fine (I usually use Nova Chrysalia to start the game)
    Any Suggestions?

EDIT: I eventually found a solution:
    Install in this Order:
    0. Backup Your Reshade Folder inside FF13 somewhere and delete the one in your ff13 folder.
    1. Install DXVK from Github (Overwrite the Stuff)
    2. Install FF13 Fix (Rename as stated the the description)
    3. Install Reshade as VULKAN (I used the Version with add-ons)
    4. Copy RTGI + MotionVectors (from Pascals Patreon) into your Reshade Folder inside the FF13 Folder
    5. Copy the files from ChaserJZX non RTGI preset in your Reshader Folder but do not overwrite the files in the folder to keep the newest Versions (I just wanted to make sure everything he used is in there)
    6. Copy the RTGI preset somewhere in the FF13 Folder
    7. Start FF13 (I use Nova Chrysalis)
    8. Load a Savegame and Press home
    9. Make Sure the DisplayBuffer is configured correctly
    10. Load the RTGI Preset. This should also activate the RTGI Shader (you can confirm by pressing Numpad , )
    11. Deactivate the RTGI Shader
    11. search for "motion" and activate the shader. (if you want to know more theres a post in the annoucement section of Pascals Discord 30.07.2022)
    12. Get all used shaders to the top by pressing "active on top" and place the motion vectors shader before the RTGI shader ( instructions by pascal)
    13. Activate the RTGI Shader and activate "USE_MOTION_VECTORS" in the Shader
    14. This List is too long. Can't wait for FF16 PepeHands. Need to Stream the Game now :D

I can't seem to get "USE_MOTION_VECTORS" to appear under RTGI preprocessor definitions.  The other four definitions are present but not Use_Motion_vectors.  Any idea why this is happening?  I've tried with MotionEstimation.fx, qUINT_of.fx, and qUINT_motionvectors.fx enabled.

      Most likely a version difference.
The iMMERSE branded version which is the newest doesn't have that option, it's forced afaik.
I might update the RTGI part as it's been a while, but no promises

For those who want to use RTGI
    DXVK's d3d9.dll -> dxvk.dll (use 32x btw)
    FF13Fix's d3d9.dll -> d3d9.dll (don't touch it)
    ChaserJZX's d3d9.dll and .ini -> reshade32.dll + reshade.ini

I also use HD texture and HD models. The 4GB patch is a must-have and don't forget to create "untouched.exe" during the patching.

Is there a way to uninstall the regular non RTGI mod? If so how?

I think it turned things a little too dark for my taste.

Yes of course. Delete the files you added to your game files.
Alternatively you could open up the ReShade overlay and disable "CurvedLevels". That should make the image brighter.

As long as it is listed after "Techniques=" you can delete it from there to disable it.
The ReShade overlay opens by pressing home (or the equivalent for your local keyboard layout, like pos1 for qwertz)
