Suppose you repeatedly cast Fire spells, the system tilts toward Water (Fire’s opposite). Fire damage starts to decrease (potentially down to 50%), Water damage increases (potentially up to 200%). If you start using Water spells instead, the balance will shift again back toward Fire.
