This mod changes Lv. 99 Red Chocobo spawn conditions to be much more bearable. They're still random, but much less annoying. It is pretty possible to stumble onto them on your way to Jahara without knowing when and which enemies to kill.

Kweh? Kweh!? Kweeeh!!! Better (different?) Lv. 99 Red Chocobo spawn mechanics.


Another simple QoL mod that gets rid of stupid zoning in and out for hours only to get a chance to die fight against this elusive enemy.

This mod changes Lv. 99 Red Chocobo spawn conditions to be much more bearable. To sum it up:
  • It can spawn the very first time you reach Haulo Green in Ozmone Plains. Reddas joining the party is no longer a requirement.
  • It has 10% chances of replacing a chocobo in either of two groups. Dice is rolled for both groups separately, so it is possible to spawn two at once (one in each group).
  • If you kill at least 6 chocobos (including the red one) in this area without completely resetting it, the chances for it to appear will go up to 25%.
  • Each of the two Lv. 99 Red Chocobos can respawn once in each group without resetting area (so there are two spawns possible: initial spawn and eight spawn, to give you a chance if you kill the chocobo that could potentially be replaced).


So yes. They're still random, but much less annoying. It is pretty possible to stumble onto them on your way to Jahara without knowing when and which enemies to kill (be aware that they're quite strong, though :D ).

And yes. I could technically make it appear 100% of the time, but I didn't want to completely spoil the encounter. On the other hand, zoning in and out or pertrifying chocobos for hours is not something I'd call fun ;).

AS IN CASE OF ALL MY MODS, IT IS COMPATIBLE ONLY WITH ENGLISH VERSION. If you want to see any change, you have to switch game's language to English.

Installation:
  • Place the "patch-choco" folder in your game's data directory (where FFXII_TZA.vbf is).
  • Run install.bat in "patch-choco" directory. If anything is wrong, it will show an appropriate message.
  • You can remove the directory once mod was successfully installed.


Uninstallation:
  • Just run remove.bat in "patch-choco" directory.
  • Remove the directory.


Compatibility with other mods:
  • As long as a mod doesn't change the only modified file (ozm_a03.ebp), mods will be compatible.
  • Please note, though, that it's probably best to install this mod last if you want to have multiple active. Many mods replace filesizetable_us.fst file, which will break my mod. On the other hand, my mod doesn't replace the table, it just patches right values in, so previously installed mods shouldn't matter.
