Is your game language set to english?

My game is English. I'm using Vortex and installed this mod last, but it doesn't seem to be working.

Do I still need to do this part if I'm using Vortex?

      • Place the "patch-trial" folder in your game's data directory (where FFXII_TZA.vbf is).
      • Run install.bat in "patch-trial" directory. If anything is wrong, it will show an appropriate message.
      Thank you.

No. That shouldn't be necessary. You can still install it that way, though (it's a vortex independent, standalone installation method). The choice should be given when starting the first stage. External file loader probably just isn't installed properly. Try looking in hook.txt for any errors (if it's not being created, then the loader definitely doesn't work).

having same issue - i have other mods that use the external file loader and lua mod (FOV mod)-- but this one does not seem to work when installs (and deployed) via vortex.

Going to try a manual install as well
EDIT: manual installation did not work either, the cmd prompt window stated everything was installed correctly, however the option to select which round doesn't pop up when starting a new trial.
Real bummer - loved this mod.

Look in game's x64 directory for a file called hook.log.
Post its contents. Maybe the external file loader isn't working properly. Also, what language do you play in? Like most mods, only english is supported.
      Edit:
One more thing came to my mind. If you're using other mods that modify trials (like difficulty mods), they might overwrite this mod.

Seems like everything is set up properly. So the issue is either language, mod not deployed properly or another mod with higher priority overwriting this one.
Do you have any other mods installed?

You can install other mods, just make sure to adjust the mod priority/conflicts so that the selector has a higher priority. You do it by clicking on "manage rules" button at the top of mods tab.

Hey. Can you post a screenshots of what does your file structure look like? It's probably something simple that you've missed.
You can also install vortex and ff12 vortex plugin (there is a link when you click download), then use the vortex compatible version. It's a one time install that will take care of everything else later.

I used to get the same issue when placing the content of patch trial in install directory rather than in its own directory. After putting it correctly I just get a patch error " There was an error during patching
Check if all files are in apropriate directories.
Press any key to continue . . ."

I cant use Vortex as it crashes my game if I run the game from Vortex (even if no mods are installed it crashes after 3 minutes in game. Mods work though). So I gotta use the patch installer. I did not install the game under the steam path though but a different path as my steam is on my ssd and its too small for games. So my games are on my hdd.
Any tips on how to fix this? Sorry to bump a 3 years old post. I just started to play it. And this mods is trully amazing so I want it XD

Any help? Do I have to edit the install bat files to chaneg some path or ?

      Thank for the help.

PS: I use EU version of the game. Idk if it makes any differences. I heard US and EU have different version.

Use vortex to install mods, do not use vortex to launch the game.
As for the issue. As I wrote earlier. Show your directory structure. You can also try launching the bat as administrator.

Is it possible to use this with SFF Mod? Loading this one afterwards , would I still get the increased stats provided by SFF mod in trial mode?
Basically , does this mod interfere with mods that change enemy stats.. When I loaded it after SFF, the LP was gone, but im not sure if this mod reverted them back to vanilla stats or that the edited files that conflict are something else  ?

You would loose only treasure chest edits in these two areas (stage 1 and 100), if any were made.

If it's possible, how can you install the mod with SFF ? I tried to do it with vortex but it doesn't work ... If someone can help me it would be great. Thanks ;)

Just make it higher priority in vortex (or install after sff). Both are modifying the same files, so mod conflict resolve dialog will pop up.

In steam right click on the game, properties -> local files -> browse. Better yet, just install vortex, enable FF12 extension, download external file loader and make it auto install everything from now on.

It's possible your file permissions are set in a way that doesn't let the installer modify them. I'd strongly suggest using vortex and ff12 vortex extension, as it will take care of it on its own.

Technically it's compatible. You'd just have make a manifest file for it. Personally, I'm not interested in doing that.

Does the mod always let you select from all stages or only from those that you already reached yourself?

Amazing stuff. These quality of life mods are what I'm most interested in seeing for FFXII and you nailed it outta the park here. Thanks again for all your hard work ffgriever. I've seen your efforts through the discord while it was active. (if it still is I left after the drama so idk) Looking forward to what you come up with next!

I'm glad you like it. I've got more of that QoL stuff left from various tests. It just needs to be turned into standalone mods, which I'm planning to do in the near future ;).
