About this mod
Hard Mode save files with the Girl as the main playable character.
- Permissions and credits
Meant for challenge runs or other Funger shenanigans.
Details of each "Save":
- All four regular protagonists accounted for, with save-editing so that every S-ending is doable without glitches/cheats and possible with just "vanilla" gameplay. The saves are in the same order as the characters.
- The "soul type" of each protagonist is removed, so it's required that you gather "soul types" if you want to use the Hexen. This was done since canonically the Girl doesn't belong to any of the 4 Soul-skill-trees.
- Intro choices taken were made to max out possible overworld skills and useful items, since overworld skills don't require a character to be present in the party and thus can be used by the Girl. For clarity sake these skills were added to the Girl regardless.
- Mercenary: Lockpicking + Escape Plan + Dash + Starting gear
- Knight: Long sword + Eagle crest shield + Plate mail + Leg guards + Dash
- Dark Priest: Mastery over Insects + Alchemillia vol. 1 + Max Gro-goroth affinity + Dash + Counter-magic + Starting gear
- Outlander: Axe + Wooden Buckler + Dash + Starting gear
How to install:
- Download the files provided and unzip them.
- Go to your Fear & Hunger files -> (likely C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fear & Hunger\www\save) .
- Drop the files you want into the "save" folder.
- Depending on the save files you already have:
- If you don't have any games saved in the first four slots, then proceed without issue.
- If you have and want to keep games saved in the first four slots, then rename the saves from this file to be numbered into an open slot in your files.
- You're done!
- These saves should be entirely compatible with both unmodded and modded versions of Fear & Hunger.
- Needless to say, the game was NOT made with the Girl as a party leader in mind. This can lead to strange game behaviour, notably, Game Overs only trigger when everyone in the party dies, and most endings are impossible (Ending A removes the Girl from the party, so you have to beat the final boss without her, B is impossible, C unobtainable in Hard mode).
- For Knight/Dark Priest S-endings to be possible, some freedoms had to be taken. Both characters have the skill/item required for their ending already equipped, which allows you to skip much of their missions - but since this is mostly meant as a fun challenge, you're free to follow the full quest or not.
- There's a visual quirk in the game where if you replace a save slot, the party that was originally there will appear when you load the save, but this is purely visual and when you load in you will have your intended party.
- Since these are pre-made save files, the Dungeons will always have the same layout, though loot still changes.
