Well it doesn't work anyway. I DID pay for this (lol) and the mod creator isn't asking for money for it. It uses shaders that the mod creator paid for, so we have to pay for it also. The money doesn't go to him, it goes to this reshade community which takes money for making these shaders available to others.

Yes guys like this author on NexusMods still need to do the hard work on setting the settings nicely for us too.

Anyway I paid for the ultimate tier, but these are hilariously available in the "pro" tier only.

In any case. They don't work. The game is DX9 so the launchpad and depth-of-field shaders fail to compile. Which means the entire mod including the RTGI doesn't work. I'd likely have to try a much older version (around the time this mod was posted on NexusMods, so like Jan 2021) so I will try that and report back.

Otherwise I think I'll get a refund. Mind you, these shaders are definitely worth the money if you have the time to bother with playing around with the settinsg on them. Not sure if they are better than any free stuff though, as I am no Reshade pro.
The problem is of course that you need to pay for these. Which means anyone who releases anything for them, no one can use that without paying.

EDIT (THIS WORKS!): I might also try this, to convert from DX9 API to Vulkan: https://guides.martysmods.com/docs/special-and-others/using-reshade-with-a-rendering-api-wrapper/ so the shaders compile properly.

EDIT Ok with the last link, I got the Reshade working. You need the DX9 .dll from the Github in the above link guide. Copy that over, then follow the instructions in another comment of mine below. There's also some gameplay footage. Overall I think it's absolutely worth the trouble. The base game looks terrible without this reshade. Huge props to Neurolepticer for providing this base for me to tweak to my liking, also really like what you did with the "blue" ArcaneBloom LUT texture, it looks MUCH nicer than the standard white one and matches the rest of the visor/UI and also just suits the theme a lot better.

You have to activate the depth buffer for it to work, you have to deactivate antialiasing in the game. ^^

Thanks this actually worked. Disabling MSAA entirely (can still force FXAA from Nvidia Control Panel) worked. However, I did have to use the method in the link I suggested. DXD9 support was dropped in 2022 for RTGI. However, it's retained in Vulcan and using DXVK.

      So in short.

      1. Install Reshade with Vulcan (also remember the DXVK d9dll from link at bottom of my above post)
      2. Copy the paid files over
      3. Copy your files over
      4. Tweak settings to your liking
      5. Remember to turn off widescreen and do the FOV fix (Google it)

and you're as good as gold. Here's some gameplay (still processing 4K): https://youtu.be/d050OJ3zuvQ

Note that I am running a 4090 and the framerate does absolutely tank using the software ray tracing. At ultra I lose 40fps from 144fps to about 100fps. So I run it at high just so my FPS doesn't drop at all.

Yeah I'm not paying for some crappy screen space RTGI that completely changes the lighting when the camera moves around.

Look at my name, does it say "Pascal Gilcher" or "MartyMcFly" somewhere? The shader creator asks for money. Or an amount of money for a membership. I never ask for money, because mods should always be free.

Are you seriously telling me to pay for something that should be released for free. He doesn't even use his own code for his work the shader language/framework is taken from the Reshade team which shared them for further development modification under an open source licence. He could be sued for using those in an unintended way. But most of Reshade community won't get to his level of douchebaggery.

RTGI shader isn't part of Reshade bundle, and it took time and effort to crete RTGI shader. It can be free, but it's not necessary should be. It's like saying "why should I pay for software, I've already paid for hardware". Reshade allows us to inject shaders into games, like hardware allows you to run software, and not all software is free. Point is, if dveloper of mod / shader / app / 3d model / etc is not willing to give you result of his work for free, it's totaly fine.
