Does this mod replace some of the original vanilla ships? Or does it make a new section for them?

  It replaces the generic starter ship for the humans, with which ever one of these ships you choose to turn on via the mod manager.
  
  (Only the players ship is replaced by this mod not any of the NPC vessels you run into.)
