This mod makes Far Cry look utterly amazing! Doing a new playthrough now on my new monitor (OLED) and this mod in HDR at night honestly looks real, one of the few games (Due to your mod now) to get nighttime perfect. (Using the brighter nights version). Amazing work.
Incredible mod with that brighter reshare, really feels like a tropical island now; super bright in the day like real sunlight, not pitch black in every shadow, and the nights are like night.
I’m having one problem, I it was working perfectly all day but now there is a flashing bug on the arm skin and part of gun.
Great one. I hated vanilla exposure. It was super unrealistic and annoying with that flashy lighting changes. Btw, can you make a better DoF (Depth of Field) filter? I mean just like your mod here, which is based on game files, since i don't like/use reshade at all in game. I like to have some DoF in such games, but alas there's nothing as i can see in game. And one more modification game needs, it's bit lower walking speed. Feels like jogging 24/7. It would be awesome to have a more realistic walking speed/crouching speed, instead this super athlete vanilla behaviour. Thanks in advance & Endo+
thanks!! yes, depth of field would be cool, to blur far distance and make closer area to "pop out" more, like modders do for Fallout 4, for example. I am not skilled to mod this type of effect, though... in fact I will have to use reshade for that purpose. If you want slower walk/crouch speed, I will put a mod for that, in "downloads" section, try it,
Thank you very much for the walking/crouch mod. Exactly what i needed to make game even better. I hope you will manage to find a way to increase in-game dof somehow. Reshade it's killing framerate, and i avoid it. Too bad i can't endorse you 2nd time :[ Thanks again.
thanks to you, I mean, the only one to actually endorse it! Really Depth of Field effect can be that heavy? I never tried it , but sometimes I use A LOT of Reshade shaders together and they don't seem to lower fps, only a little, like 2 or 3 fps for each shader, so for example having 4 shaders active I would run 60 fps instead of 70 ( I have GTX 1070ti and Intel i7) but I never tried DOF
Fps might seems ok, but Reshade actually making you feel like you play with -10 fps. I mean ,while your on screen display fps counter shows 60+, your actual frames will be 50-55 or even less, especially if you are using Ambient Light or Bloom (most heave reshade filter). This is because shaders killing your frametime, NOT framerate. Didn't you noticed sometimes moving camera around, feels heavy/slow? Just use MSi Afterburner, and enable "Frametime", at Monitoring, then check to see the difference. Anyways. Regarding to your mod here, i just noticed at Night, surroundings are completely deep black. I'm using the Flashlight mod too, but even with FL, i can't see over 1mt. Now, not sure if this is the normal night behaviour by mod, or just because i'm with HDR+ display. But in daytime, everything looks absolutely fantastic ;-)
I really want to like (and use) this mod, but unfortunately even the brighter night version is too freaking dark at night. I dont use hdr. Can u maybe do an even brighter version, or tell me please what values and where i need to edit?
wow still too dark, how can be, I already made it brighter, it's not dark for me, and I play with Oculus Rift cv1, which has very very dark blacks and contrast, must be a lot brighter on a tv screen . check the tv settings, like gamma, contrast and brightness, also check these in the ingame settings too, balance them and it should be fine
put Brightness to 50, Contrast to 60 and Gamma to 70
This shaded works better than vanilla but still, those lights(i mean lanterns) can't spreay(emitte) their light out, maybe add a RT will be great with this mod
Hey,thanks a lot for this mod its great however there is one issue I cannot get over which is, with this mod enabled I cannot use another mod to disable Depth of Field because it conflicts (Clear Skies, only the dof feature conflicts). However I find the game so blurry with DOF forced (by default without an option to disable) that I actually start feeling sick while playing.
Is there any possibility you could have a version that completely disables DOF? I would be so thankful.
done! it's in download section. I removed DOF from my mod, so you just need to deselect the DOF option from the "Clean view" mod in the FC6ModInstaller, so the two mods will not conflict, and DOF should be gone
Hi thanks for the mod If i want more light What values can I modify? How can i open the file in general Because when opened as text it does not appear correctly
more light during day or night? first disable HDR in "Windows, Display Settings", that makes the game darker with lot of contrast. Also you can put like contrast to 60 and gamma to 70, in the options/video/color section, that would also give you more light. If you want edit the mod itself, then good luck.... it's very complex, because some values you expect to do "that" in game, usually they do the opposite, or they mess up everything.... I had to restart the game "a hell of a lot of times" to trial and error to get to something somewhat good :) only Ubisoft has their tools to edit lighting in an easy way...... If you still want to try, then extract the "Lighting mod and Real Nights mod.a3" file with 7zip, then you need to convert the "fc6_main.managers.fcb" that is inside with FCB Converter Far Cry Modding - FCBConverter (fcmodding.com) by dragging it to FCBConverter.exe, then you can edit the xml file ( every area of the game has it's own values, they are more than 150, they're name is on top of each template, type in search find: "AutoExposure", there you have the values,....For each one, I suggest you start with : "fDownwardAdaptationTimeScale" and "fUpwardAdaptationTimeScale" to change the time needed to adapt to light and dark, higher value means faster adaptation. Also "curveExposureMin" and "max", to change how much exposure you want max and min, now it's 4.5 min(for brighter night you can try with 3 or 3.5 I think) and 16.5 max( for brighter day you can try with 16, I think), but these are very tricky, you might end up with total black or total white, it happened a lot to me.... Remember that every value(number) has it's own "BinHex" code, they always need to match, because the game will read the BinHex code, not the numbers, numbers are only for reference ) when you done editing, save, drag the xml file again to FCBConverter.exe, you will have "fc6_main.managers_new.fcb", rename it to "fc6_main.managers.fcb" . Then select both "fc6_main.managers.fcb", info.xml and the two images and create a .zip folder, that you need to finally rename to "Lighting mod and Real Nights mod.a3"
Slow down a bit man lol This is too much for me My experience with these things is almost non-existent I also use the translator (I don't speak English) But I really appreciate you trying to explain to me I will accept the mod without modification Thank you pro
ok, yes It's complicated :) You can do this simple : first disable HDR in "Windows, Display Settings", because HDR makes the game darker with too much contrast. Then you can put Brightness to 50, Contrast to 60 and Gamma to 70 in the game options/video/color section, that will give you more light in game
Hi, just to let you know I have edited your mod using the 3.5 value for the "curveExposureMin" as you mentioned, and it worked. I am having perfect results with brightness 50, contrast 55 and gamma 60 (contrast 60, gamma 70 was too washed out for my taste). Caves are super dark but ok with flashlight. Nights are still very dark but playable, as intended! This is the perfect threshold with flashlight on for me. With 4.5 value, everything was too dark, even with flashlight on! The first mission of the game (in Esperanza) was also too dark, but perfect now.
Thanks for the useful details about how to edit your mod :)
cool!! you need to replace with 3.5 all the areas, otherwise some interiors or exteriors will not be affected. And yes maybe "4.5 exposure min" gets a bit too dark at night, but it looks right on my tv.... in case I added a version with brighter night
I so want to use this mod, as the nights are unrealistically bright, but I feel it's a step too far. I've not got an HDR display, and I've adjusted the Brightness/Gamma/Contrast, but unless somebody has thrown a Molatov at an enemy (said he, innocently) then it's near impossible to see my foes. I opened up and looked at the mod (a first for me, at least in FC6) but cannot see how to dial it down to 50% of the effect. Still going to endorse it
I love the exposure tweaks, it makes the game feel/look a lot better. Unfortunately I had to uninstall since I can't get used to the super dark nights. I endorsed anyway because I really appreciate your work though, and if you make a alt version with a lighter night or no night tweak I'd download that in a heartbeat. Kudos on the excellent mod either way. Thank you for your hard work.
nights are not too dark, here's the problem: If you have HDR "off" in "Windows, Display Settings" then it will look best.
If you have HDR "on" in "Windows, Display Settings" then it will look bad, with WAY too much contrast and WAY too dark nights........ so I suggest you turn HDR "off" in "Windows, Display Settings", OR if you need HDR active in "Windows, Display Settings" then you should : 1. Turn HDR "off" at least in the game "options, color, brightness" section and then 2. Set Brightness to 50, set Contrast to 20 and Gamma to 70....But it's better balanced with HDR "off" in "Windows/ Display Settings" and brightness 50, contrast 55 and gamma 60, something like that, I think
Helpful tip for those of us with HDR capable displays, mine is not. I don't have options for HDR in Windows' settings nor in-game (in the game the menu for HDR isn't even actionable without an HDR display).
I will however try your suggestions for the Brightness, Contrast, and Gamma...at a later date though. Right now I'm using the Clear View mod which conflicts with yours. I'll let you know how it goes when I do try it out though, thank you.
I tried "Clean view" mod some time ago, but I stopped using it because I find it doesn't make noticeable difference in the graphics, unless you really look for it. But if you want less of a change, then "Clean view" it's better, since my mod does changes the graphics a lot more. Also thanks for endorsment :)
So as promised I'm letting you know how it went when I retried your mod. I set the Brightness, Contrast, and Gamma to your suggestions and it was still a bit too dark at night for me. It did manage to make the days look even better and more tropical though. I finally settled on Brightness of 55 with the Gamma and Contrast values set to 70. This made it somewhat playable at night, but unfortunately made the daytime and several UI elements a bit too washed out. It also made any light source have this really distracting halo effect that I'm not sure why Ubisoft even added in the first place. I really tried to like it, but the night time changes just aren't for me. It's too dark and I have to change too much in the settings to get it to work, which also makes the days look worse. I still appreciate all your hard work though and the daytime part of the mod on its own looks fantastic. Thank you.
I will make a video, and post it here, so you can see the changes compared to original, the improvements for daytime are clearly visible , but they are not like "game changer", though real nights has a huge impact on visuals and gameplay

Also check Far Cry Modding - Libertad mod (fcmodding.com)
there is a lot of cool mods for Far Cry there

I uploaded the updated "brighter" version, sorry was my mistake, was too dark
AI appreciate this is a bit late but I would love to get hold of your slower walk mod - where can I find it?
