I can't get past the crafting part of the tutorial. Is it bugged?
No, it's not bugged, and you can get through it if you do it right. During the crafting section of the tutorial, you may not have the items needed to craft the things Dennis asks you to. As long as you attempt to craft something, he will move on to the next part of the tutorial. If trying to craft something doesn't work it's because you are doing it too soon and you need to wait for him to finish talking first.

How do I deploy the wingsuit? How do I deploy the parachute? How do I switch between grenades and molotovs?
The key to deploy the wingsuit was changed. To deploy it, hold down the jump key while in the air. The key to deploy the parachute is the same key as you'd press to change seats in a vehicle (and that's the key you rebind in the options menu if you want to rebind the parachute key).

The key to switch between grenade types was also changed. The mouse wheel is now used to cycle through the weapons you have equipped, so the key to switch between grenades was changed to G. This can be changed via the options menu in-game.

Do I have to start a new game after installing this mod or switching to a different edition of the mod?
Yes! This mod will not work with game saves that were created before the mod was installed, or while a different version of the mod was installed.

Is it possible to get 100% completion with this mod?
Due to some of the less useful crafting recipes being merged together, you will not be able to craft the amount of items that are listed in the in-game handbook. Other than that, you can complete every piece of content 100%.

Are you still working on this mod?
Not at the moment, but as of December 2018 I still plan to return to work on it in the future. If you're interested in reading about my future plans for this mod you can do so here.

Okay I just don't know how to fix the weapons' FOV. It's too close for me. I changed it in your mod and in the Mud Mod. Strange thing however is that in the Mud Mod it actually changed the FOV and in your mod it just doesn't. Kinda ruins this mod for me. I'd appreciate some help, thanks.

    Hi

I would just like to know how you added the choice of having different melee weapons.

The vanilla game already had multiple different melee weapons that you could equip from the store menu. I just removed the requirements to unlock them, made all of their stats the same so they're just cosmetic, and added store files to allow the player to buy melee weapons that were in the game's files but weren't obtainable.

Hey there. Awesome mod so far, but I'm a bit cross with how fast enemies kill me. It's fun in missions and adds challenge and all, but when just travelling on the map it annoys me sometimes. I opened up the patch.fat and was looking for where the changes to damage have been made but couldn't find the file so far.
Can you point me to the one I need to unpack and edit? Thanks in advance.

Changing something like that isn't as simple as just changing a variable in a file. The way damage is calculated in this mod is very, very different from how it is calculated in the vanilla game. Rebalancing the damage for this mod would require editing several different files, some of which are not in a legible format. Even the ones that are would require finding and editing several different values, and doing a lot of math. It would be difficult for me to teach someone who is very experienced in modding this game how to properly rebalance the damage for this mod, let alone someone who is just trying to do it for the first time.

The reason for this is because there are a lot of mechanics in the mod that weren't in the vanilla game. Damage drop-off, location-based damage multipliers, difficulty-based damage multipliers, etc. I'm also utilizing some complex exploits to scale damages based on the shooter and target (player to animal, NPC to animal, player to NPC, enemy NPC to friendly NPC, etc). These are not mechanics that are supported by the vanilla game, and I've had to come up with some creative and complex exploits to allow for it to be possible.

Due to all of this, it's not as easy as just going in and modifying the amount of damage that each gun does, like it would be in the vanilla game. Doing that would screw up the exploits I'm using to do all of the things mentioned above, which would likely cause a bunch of undesired effects.

Sorry if you don't like the way I've balanced the combat for this mod, but what you're describing is an intentional part of the balancing. Combat is supposed to be a lot more fast-paced and difficult. Getting shot is supposed to be punishing, so the player is encouraged to utilize cover, stealth, and good accuracy in order to minimize the damage taken. When traveling it is generally best to stay away from roads and places where enemies tend to spawn, or ensure you're aware of your surroundings so you can deal with NPCs before they become a threat to you.

That's a pity. Was a bit simpler in FC2 where I was able to adjust the damage globaly for hit locations globally.
I actually found the files needed yesterday and then decided that I don't want to vanish in modding-pandaemonium for a week or so to adjust everything and just left it. :D
I actually like the balancing for the most part, it's just about the hikes from point A to B.

Anyway, thanks for the quick answer (though it actually lacked the answer ;) ) and keep up the good work. Great mod! :)

Dead enemies and animals do not blink and they are too easily hidden in the heavy underbrush. This alone is too frustrating for me. I do like a lot of the other mod changes but spending 5 minutes looking for a dead animal is a deal breaker.

Sorry to hear that's causing issues for you. Personally, I've never had a problem keeping track of where I killed an animal. I also feel that animals are so common, and loot from NPCs isn't anything important, so even if you do lose track of something it isn't that big of a deal. Everyone is going to want different things though, and I can't please everyone. I feel the current selection of mod variants appeals to a very wide range of people, and that's all I can really do in a game where mods need to be an all-in-one package.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. The enemies are supposed to be much more of a threat with this mod. Making the game much more difficult is a core part of this mod. Enemies should kill you faster and you should generally be able to kill them faster as well.

Sorry, no. Not in version 4.0.4. I plan to add support for other languages in the future.

Hi Dziggy, I do not speak English, in which file is the mod language file? The fact is that there is a translated version of your mod 3.21, if you only know which file to pull out of that mod and embed it in your actual 4.0.4?
and what utility to unpack / pack the archive?

The language files from version 3.2.1 are not compatible with version 4.0 or higher. There is a good reason why the new versions do not have support for other languages.

    @Ziggy

Will you try to make a similar mod for FC5? This mod is the only reason I enjoyed FC3 as much as I did!

Thanks for your hard work on this!

If someone makes proper modding tools for Far Cry 5 then I would certainly look into modding that game. There were never any proper tools made for Far Cry 4 though, so I doubt anyone is working on tools for Far Cry 5. Some people did make the Far Cry 3 modding tools work with Far Cry 4, although last I heard they were only partially working with Far Cry 4 and modding that game was still a headache. Perhaps people can do the same for Far Cry 5, but it might still be more trouble than it's worth to mod that game as well.

I have no idea if anyone is working on modding tools for Far Cry 5, or making any progress with Far Cry 4. Whoever was working on the tools for Far Cry 4 was doing it on some weird sites so it's kinda hard to keep track of it. I don't really care enough to put the effort in to do so either. If someone points me in the direction of some working modding tools for either game (and it's not a giant hassle to work with them) I'll look into making mods for them, but otherwise I'm putting my efforts into modding games that have readily-available tools.

It's also worth mentioning that I still haven't purchased Far Cry 5 and I likely never will unless I do get my hands on some modding tools for it. I have very little interest in playing Far Cry games, but I will gladly mod any Far Cry, Watch Dogs or Assassin's Creed game if I can find some working tools for them. Ubisoft tends to cater their games to a different audience than myself, so unless I can mod their games I just don't get much enjoyment from them.

Hey Ziggy, I'm having this really bizarre issue where no matter how many times I install your mod, it just boots up vanilla fc3, even if I launch directly from the exe. I've tried disabling Uplay auto updates, but it still doesn't work. As a temporary fix, I used the DLL files from a "no Uplay" mod which seems to load your mod and the game doesn't crash, however it does say I have the incorrect DLL files. Do the DLL files you've included contain any of the changes this mod implements, or is it just in the patch files?

I don't know what would be causing that issue. Yes, some of the mod's features are in the DLL files.

Wow, I didn't expect you were still updating this just half a year ago. I remember playing with this mod back in 2013 when it didn't even have 200 endorsements and had a blast, made me not regret my purchase of the game back then and is the reason I never touched FC4 or 5 because I knew they would be the same dumb BS as vanilla FC3. Lost access to my old account when Nexus decided to lock-up accounts after a few months of inactivity, so have another endorsement from me. :)
