Thanks for trying out this Mod.

This is an open beta of the mod. There are still some minor quirks, kinks and other little wierd bits & pieces, but for the most part it is very complete and stable. If you find anything radicly amiss please let me know on the offical FB page for the mod: https://www.facebook.com/FarCry3Mod

REQUIRMENTS - You need the latest 1.05 version of Far Cry 3. Also YOU MUST START A NEW GAME to use this mod! You will only be able to see the new text changes if you are using English language.

You may also want to read the suggestions section below as well at the very least.

--------
FEATURES
--------
* Join the PIRATES taking back Rook Island from Jason and his band of tree hugging, lotus eating Rakyat warriors.

* TONS of new graphics. All sorts of changes and updates to the UI graphics. New enemy outfits. New Animals & Vehicles. All kinds of stuff.

* Crazy storyline with swapped around characters that is a complete ridiculous drug trip which makes almost no sense what-so-ever (wait... did the orignal story make sense??), but it's pretty funny. Try it you'll laugh. And probably say WTF. A lot. Be sure to read the handbook entries on characters and the story. You can ignore the storyline completely if you wish and just play open world.

* Various key mapping improvements. Additional keys added such as (I)nventory, (J)ournal, s(K)ills, progress (L)og etc. CTRL key or C key to crouch. TAB key or M key for Map. Moved weapon swapping to mouse scroll wheel and grenade/molotov swapping to G key. Everything can be remapped in the menu.

* The camera gadget actually functions AS a camera you can use to take screenshots!
That is you can take "fake snapshots" in game to fulfill mission requirements (left mouse button), but you can also use it to take actual screenshots of the game (right mouse button). You can also take screenshots with the defined keyboard keys if you wish.

* The camera is also one of the only ways to tag enemies (other than sniper rifles and the shadow signature weapon). Tagged enemies do show through walls. Enemies NEVER appear on your minimap so be aware of your surroundings.

* Increased time scale to allow days and nights to be twice as long. Increased weather chance so you actually see storm every so often.

* Removed the skies and shadows pausing when you stop moving (this looked weird and I'm not sure why Ubi implemented it).

* Removed the world pausing while you craft items, look at your inventory and map, etc. Be aware that animals, vehicles and enemies will still continue to move and go about their business despite whatever you are doing. (Probably best to slow down or pull over while driving to look at your map ;)

* All weapons open at the start. Although you will still have to buy them. Some signature weapons still require you to complete certain tasks (take over X amount of outposts, climb X amount of towers, etc.)

* All skills open at start. Second island is "technically" open at start, but it's plenty dangerous to attempt early. Wingsuit and privateer outfit are NOT available at start. You'll need to progress to those points in the story. Wingsuit can be unlocked via skills if you do not want to play the storyline. (It's the skill after shooting on ziplines I believe)

* Some weaker skills have been buffed to give additional abilites and bonuses and make them more usefull/interesting.

* Loot diamonds/relics/etc icons only appear on the maps if you move extremely close to them. You may still purchase expensive maps from the stores to reveal all the locations if desired.

* Prices in general are higher (roughly 1.5x to 2x the original cost). Money is extremely easy to acquire in FC3 so this slows down the rapid power creep of the player.

* Towers do NOT provide free weapons. They will provide experience, expose more of the map and unlock extra weapon ATTACHMENTS to purchase for your weapons. Want a silencer and extended magazine for your AK-74? Well you'll need to disable some of the tower scramblers so shops can get those in stock for you.

* Weapons do not unlock when you retrieve them from dead enemies. If you want your own to customize you'll need to buy it from the store.

* Revised weapon names. AK-74 instead of AK-47, F1 Famas instead of just F1, etc. These are still not 100% accurate, but they are more representative of the actual weapons the game is mimicking.

* Revised Syringe requirements to require more variety and quantity of leaves. This is a very SLIGHT change. You won't need handfulls of leaves to craft medicine, but in general you'll need a few more and of different kinds then you did before.

* Revised Crafting requirements. Again this is not intended as a radical change, but the crafting in the base game is pretty illogical and generally very easy to do. Between the map, fast travel and minimal requirements you can craft almost everything except the last items in an hour or less of hunting. Revised requirements require more and more animal skins as you progress to more powerful gear. Certain skins are now associated with certain items (for example pigskin and sharkskin for wallets, boar and buffalo hide for loot sacks, etc.)

* Regular non-medical syringes have longer durations.

* Added some small XP benefits to hunting animals. Added some small improvements to skin prices in the store. You can earn 5 - 150 xp and $ per skin depending on how rare or dangerous it is to acquire. Pigs are worth very little. Tigers and Bears are worth quite a lot.

* After the first 10 levels or so XP begins to ramp up to around double the required amount and late game you need TRIPLE or more XP to gain the final few levels. This slows down player progression as in the original game it was far too easy to unlock all the skills (with points to spare!) before the game was even halfway over.

* MUCH more pirate variety and Rakyat variety. New animal and vehicle spawns. All sorts of random unusual stuff you normally don't see while playing. From turtles and snakes spawning on the beach, to 9 varieties of goats and jelly fish to really unique stuff and bizarre stuff like the ATV Hunter or Zebra jeep can be encountered now.

* Enemies do NOT dissappear from the map after you take over outposts. The further you get from Amanaki village the more enemy persist afterwards.

* Outposts are WAYYY more defended than before. If you trigger the alarm expect a BIG fight as waves of enemy reinforcements may be drawn in. The further away from Amanaki village the more and more difficult the outposts are. South island outposts are EXTREMELY difficult and require either careful planning or massively gearing up.

* Weapons in general are more lethal. It takes less hits to kill or be killed so use body armor, syringes, cover, stealth and situational awareness to win the fight.

* LOTS and LOTS of OTHER CHANGES. Too many to remember. Enjoy finding all the little bits and pieces added to the game!

INSTALLATION
------------

This mod is installed like most Far Cry 3 mods so if you have any experience with that this should be old hat to you. However if you are new to mods just remember this one golden rule: BACK UP your SAVE GAMES and your PATCH.DAT & PATCH.FAT files. More instructions below.

TL:DR - Backup your saves. Backup patch.dat & patch.fat files. Replace patch.dat and pacth.fat with the pirate mod versions. Start a new game. Profit!

STEP 1
Make back up copies (copy and paste) of your save games and the following two files:
patch.dat
patch.fat

Your savegames should be located around:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\savegames\[long randomnumber]\46\

They might also be under C:\ProgramData\Orbit\46
(with ProgramData being a hidden folder)

patch.dat & patch.fat are located wherever your main far cry 3 executable is located.

I have the steam version of FC 3 and mine is in my steam library here:
C:\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Far Cry 3\data_win32

If you have the Ubisoft version it should be:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Far Cry3\data_win32

PS: if you have the steam version and are having problems with Far Cry 3 crashing you should try moving it to your C drive. This seems like a dumb fix but it's worked for several people having problems with the Steam version.

NOTE: This mod is extremely stable and has been tested on multiple systems and setups. It should NOT crash your game (unless you are trying to use old saves with it since it requires a new game to work properly). If you experience crashes it is most likely not associated with this mod.

STEP 2
Once you have backed those files up you simply copy the patch.dat & patch.fat files from my mod into your data_win32 folder (overwrite the old ones if asked - be sure they are backed up!)

IMPORTANT - You WILL need to start a NEW GAME in order to use this mod!

All the modders of the FC3 Modding forums - Haoose, Ceano, Chorizosss, CovertKish, jketiynu, PandoraX357, Sleepingwsirens and so many others I'm sure I've forgotten. Their tireless work in unraveling the FC3 files has made the game so much more interesting and fun to play. I've learned much from the shared community there over the years and most appreciative of all their hard work.
