Fallout Redux, by Lacedaemonius


I've always had a very deep love for Fallout, but there's no doubt that Tactics is simply the weakest release in the trilogy. For a game that focuses so heavily on combat, the actual implementation is startlingly mediocre. Even so, Tactics has a whole lot of potential; why so few other modders have seen that potential is beyond me. This mod attempts to add a bit of polish to the core gameplay by adjusting the balance on all weapons so that weapons are generally more consistent, and formerly underpowered playstyles are viable again. It's balanced foremost for SP, but should still be better than vanilla in MP. Bear in mind that this was made for turn-based, in real-time YMMV. A shortlist of changes can be found below, and a full log can be found in redux_changelog.txt. Finally, I must give credit where credit's due: this mod is inspired by the (as of writing) unreleased Fallout Tactics: Revised mod. VengefulSniper, if you're reading this, finish the fucking mod, it's been 7 goddamn years.

NOTE: THIS IS A BALANCE MOD FIRST AND FOREMOST. IF YOU THINK ANYTHING NEEDS A NERF/BUFF LET ME KNOW.

1. Extract the archive to your Fallout Tactics root directory
2. Open launch_redux.bat

-Adjusted weapon and ammo flavor text in items.txt
-Changed ammo type for most firearms to more closely match their IRL counterparts
-Rewrote stats for most small guns & big guns skills weapons, they're far more consistent.
-Significant buffs to unarmed, melee, and throwing weapons. Using them should be a little less suicidal.
-All enemy melee attack damage increased 2x
