Honestly I downloaded the _64x64 pixel just because I thought would have been silly to watch and... ...not really IMO. Apart from obvious close up textures, I'd say that the game looks ok for basically everything after a few meters. Especially if you generally use a tiny bit of DOF.
IMO paired with a "weapons and Clothing+NPCs+monsters" "restorative" pack, it could look very much comparable to the regular mipmapped hires pack, if you're a bit on a budget with PC specs. I was honestly surprised.
Still totally enjoyable, as the real hiccups - I fear - come from the engine itself.
Advice: beware if you install it with QuickConfig modmanager as it first unpacks everything locally and re-packs it again whenever you deploy the mods (it is acceptable if you "freeze" the package, it will only do it once). Took quite a while to repack that bazillion of textures :P
If we use the 512 version, should the game settings be on medium or high textures? Currently using 1k, but wanted to test differences in visual quality.
I feel silly for asking but I can't work out what the different versions of this mean. I see you said for people that don't want to have any noticeable reduction in quality they should go with 1K or 2K, but which has less compression, or otherwise is higher visual quality?
