For me the dark version doesn't even closely look like what your screenshots show, it's just pitch black, especially the helmet. What color settings do you use?
Well, I made the mod quite a while ago, I really gotta check it out in my game since I haven't been using it for a long time now. But on both my monitors it defintely looked like on the screens. The game lighting has undergone changes throughout these years so it might look different now.
That's exactly how it supposed to look! Thanks for the screen. Reading the comment I thought they meant it looked like there's no detail, just plain black all over it, but this (on your screen) is perfectly normal. I guess the screen was taken in the morning and it gives this impression of brownish tint because of specific lighting. I guess I need to rephotograph the outfit properly.
Oh? okay. But then if it would be possible, could you add a version which looks exactly like that one of your screenshot? Like dark grey, not void black? I'd love it! :)
Also, thanks for this awesome mod. Maybe you even could put your hands on the chinese stealth suit? It also needs a rework, at best with different color options too. That armor has that poor textures, it looks like it's done in 2005.
The thing is, the outfit on my screenshots look exactly the same as I see it in game, so I guess the issue you're encountering has something to do with your in-game gamma/brightness/contrast settings or maybe some reshade you're using.
While many of the game's assets' quality has been lowered significantly since release throuhghout these years (and to add insult to injury Bethesda keeps on releasing new assets with quite low texture resolution remiuniscent to what we had in games from 2005), I'm not into retexturing everything there is, so I'm, only making mods for stuff I use in game, and unfortunatelty CSS is not an armor of my choice. These days my chars only wear unyielding armor and some outfit on top of that from among the ones I already have retextured, so rn I'm not planning on doing more of those.
yea. he probably different color/light settings have been what I thought about too. Could you pls tell me which settings you're using in your invidea color correction settings?
This is a screenshot of what i use and so you can see what I'm talking about: https://ibb.co/WycBF9V
Because of CSS. Okay I understand, but it's super sad. Maybe there will be a mod for it at some day :)
On nvidia settings: I never altered anything in nvidia control panel. And the screens I provided aren't affected by any reshade if I remember correctly. They've been taken a long time ago prior to Wastelanders DLC release, the lighting in game was different by that time. But again, the outfit doesnt' look much different today (to me at least), to be honest. On CSS modding: if you tried to search here at nexus, just entering "stealth" in the search field would give you at least two retextures for it, one of which is an awesome work of SentinelOfSteel and another one is a darker version of the outfit which is also cool. Please consider using search next time you'll need a mod for some outfit/armor/weapon.
Of course I used the search for the Stealth armor, pretty rude to assume i didn't. Both of them are recolors and not what I've been looking for, which led me to your page, because I love your work.
All fine, it was just a question if you would concider creating a very dark gray one too :)
Sorry if my comment seemed rude, it wasn't my intent. I just thought Sentinel's retexture was a really cool one and it looked to me more like a revamp sticking with vanilla color scheme, rather than a recolor. That's why I recommended and assumed you didn't use the search. (You won't believe how often people don't do that, so it became pretty common to assume that they didn't) But if you want a darker recolor, then it got to wait until I'll have some free time, for now I'm slowly working towards Winter in Appalachia update to finally bring some major changes to it. Unfortunately, I don't have much time modding these days.
Thanks again for your support! I hope there's no hard feelings!
First of all, how do you install the mod (and which version of it exactly, 4k or 2k)? Please be as thorough as possible. Most of the issues arise because people don't follow the installation instructions from the description carefully enough.
I'm not sure if it's my version of Fallout 76, playing through steam, or what. But I can't get any mods that alter the Fallout 1st NCR outfit to work. I have zero problems with every other mod I've tried. Sadly I can't get any NCR mods to work :( ... Has anyone else ran into this problem?
Update: This started working, for me. I rebooted my computer, and Presto it works.. Very odd... Great mod thanks!
Just realized you can do that by combining both mods, you just need to write the filenames in the right order within the .ini, like this: RangerElite.ba2, BlRanger.ba2, RHelmet_Mat.ba2 This way the standard helmet texture colors will be taken from the texture archive that goes last (BlRanger.ba2) (overriding black helmet textures of Ranger Elite mod) and the glowing texture from the RangerElite.ba2 will be used by the material from Rhelmet_Mat.ba2 (just download the one of the color you want).
I'm sorry, didn't quite get what you were trying to say here. The default color scheme for this mod is dark, almost black.
By the way, I'm planning to update this mod with less blurry normal and light maps, so stay tuned! And also, stay tuned for Ranger Elite retexture, which I mentioned below!
I can't seem to get it to work even with the custom ini. Does it no longer work following the most recent update or something? Here's my custom ini if that helps:
First of all, you seem to be using old-fashioned ini edit, which is no longer needed (you don't need to put all the native game's archive names into these strings since one of the patches from 2019).
Second, you have all parameters merged into one string for some reason, you can see it at the end of the string, where they are merged with ny mod's title, so the game can't tell them apart and of course won't interpret correctly. You got there a "binvalidateOlderFiles=1" and "sResourceDataDirsFinal=", which are redundant anyway and should be deleted.
Third, you have *.ba2 before BlRanger.ba2 there, which is a generic filename I use in my mods' descriprions. I usually state explicitly that "* is the name of the file you extracted", so please find out which mod was that and what was the name of the ba2 file you extracted from its archive and replace the * with this name. This is yet another reason why one of my mods you were trying to use didn't actually work.
Long story short, your archive section should look like this, nice and clean:
(Again, My_Other_Mod.ba2 is a generic filename since I don't know which one you used exactly. You need to figure out which file you extracted from that mod's archive and replace My_Other_Mod.ba2 with its filename.)
This is it, everything will work just fine this way. Just add more mod filenames to this string separated by comma in the future and they'll work like a charm. Also, be aware, sometimes mods are added to sResourceIndexFileList= string, so you might need to create it and append the names of some mods to it
Sorry to trouble you Rigell but where can I find the silver retexture shown in the pictures? They're tagged as riot paint, but the riot file only seems to give me a cleaned up green coat.
There is no silver one, the riot one is actually green (as seen on last screenshot). It really depends on lighting conditions how it is perceived since it's very light.

I do not see a 2k or 4k version for the RiotRanger.ba2 file. , on the file tab. and thank you for such a quick reply :)
