I absolutely LOVE what this has done to the visuals in game. Excellent mod, instructions for install leave a bit to be desired!
I recommend you make 2 distributions
- With SFE support. Don't include SFE because it's against the license agreement to do so but rename the reshade DLL appropriately.
- Without SFE Support. Don't rename reshade...
Instructions for selecting INI.
- The dialog did pop up for me but it wasn't clear at all what I needed to do. I obviously sorted it out, but a bit more detail here would go a long ways. The default Reshade was VERY dark in dark areas... like unplayable dark!
I would have swore it had dxgi.dll included but that's obviously not the case now that I'm looking again. I retract that.
I'd just include some instructions about how to remap the console key (home is used by textchat too) and how to select the ini... based off the instructions posted I assumed it would prompt me for an INI and not let me go on without picking one and that wasn't the case.
I made it so its ready to go. no need to download Reshade with it. People got super confused in the past so I made it this way. just follow install instructions on description page
Got it, working now. Is there a way to modify contrast? Just want to reduce it a bit, seems too dark on my setup. Is editing the Gama in the .ini file enough? If so, which one particularly increases the brightness a bit (or reduce the harsh contrast)
You can remove the CO76LUT.ba2, or use the ba2 without the Reshade preset. Otherwise you can tinker on my settings. Just dont upload my changed setting lol
1. Weird I installed it on a fresh install of fallout 76, followed the instructions to the t and this is the only reshade I have ever downloaded (maybe some leftover files steam saved as variables when I removed it?)
2. Hmm tried googling, seems like it's a common problem with reshade. Apparently renaming d3d11.dll to dxgi.dll fixes it? not sure what to do here since per your instruction I overwrite the dxgi.dll file included in this with sfe's one
Well for the first problem if manually disabling fixes it, then its alright. For the second issue, I guess you have to use either reshade or sfe then. Sorry I really cannot fix that. If you find any solution yourself I gladly include it or make a note.
Found a comment on the fidelity 76 mod page talking about getting it to load properly by renaming the dxgi.dll included to ReShade64.dll. Will give this a try the next time I'm on and will let you know if it fixes it.
Found out where display depth came from (it's part of the standard affects you can't uncheck when installing reshade)
Tried the renaming, forced controller on, some other reshade mods, ds4 instead of steam, updating all drivers, validating files, etc nothing works. I had this working in 2020, so I guess an update to reshade or steam broke controller support for reshade in f76.
Do you know if there's any way for me to get darker nights and remove the gross filter for f76 other than reshade? maybe through ini edits?
No worries, it's a shame I couldn't get this to place nice with controller. IMO this is by far the best reshade for F76 and makes the game look much better.
Decided to give it a crack again since SFE is not currently working/updated. Tried many different combinations and it looks like it has to be dxgi.dll for the controller to continue to work after installing the reshade. Unless someone finds a work-a-round looks like all reshades are incompatible with SFE on controller at least on the Steam version. Edit: tested with a few other reshades, same result. It looks like it needs to be dxgi.dll for controller to continue functioning after installation.
Well now =/ this enb wont let me open up fallout =/ i click game from steam to play then it goes back to green button saying play again. I try clicking the .exe within the game folder and it spits out this message The application was unable to start correctly (OxcOOOO142) Click ok to close the application.
But when i delete from my game folder the reshade-reshaders your ini file and d3d11 file i can now open my game up. I followed your instructions. I removed any folders called reshade or any files called reshade and any dxgi files from my game folder before installing reshade 5.4.2, selected uncheck all like in your instructions. But this game just dont want to co-operate =/
Is there a way to enable raytracing from RTGI or Reshade GI in this preset? I know there is a reshade with addon support. But how do i go about enabling Raytracing with your preset?
download the qUINT shaders when you get asked which shaders to download, and enable it ingame
I wanted to include it originally in the 3.0 update but after fiddling around with pathtrace (cus its not really raytrace, the more you know), I decided against it because 76 cannot render it well with just reshade and it looks kinda ass. same with SSR (screen space reflection, yknow shiny floor).
But hey if you wanna fool around sure, just dont rerelease my reshade with your edits.
Anyone have any luck with installing this Reshade lately? I followed the instructions with 4.6.1 Reshade and ended up with CAS.fx and DisplayDepth.fx compile errors, I think because of changed variable names ('tex2DgatherR' and 'reshade_depth_input_x_pixel_offset'). Tried with newest Reshade 4.9.1 and only get the DisplayDepth.fx compile error, but in either case it seems I can't activate the effects.
This is super weird. Neither I or my testers have this issue. I will look into it. I plan to make the latest Reshade edition release convert too, its just a lot of work between real life and other hobbies.

I guess for beginners it can be a bit confusing. If I could I would make it automatically select CO76 as its ini, alas idk how.

Edit: Goes in C:\XboxGames\Fallout 76\Content\

1. When I activate displaydepth.fx my game goes black screen
2. I can no longer use xbox/ps5 controller. Anyone know how to fix this?
2. Okay I really don't know what causes that, I use myself m&kb, same with my testers.

still thank you for investigating on your own on it, helps out.

if you are using SFE, you can also try renaming the reshade dll to "ReShade64.dll"
Apparently that works too.
But glad you can get this to work.

Some of those before and afters really show-off how amazingly affective this is.
Cheers Baddtraxx.
