Unfortunately, the [Enlighten] area is no longer usable after the update on 22. Oct. 2024. Everything is extremely dark. What do I have to change to make it brighter again?
Hello Many thanks for the quick reply. I've already done that, but now everything looks extremely bright and the metals are only white - without shine. Is there a way to quickly test the INI files, or do I have to restart F76 every time (as I do now)?I s there a website somewhere that explains the INI commands? I would be more than grateful for an answer to these 2 questions. Best regards
Hello, I had to remove [Enlighten] after (30) hours of trying it out. No matter what I did, it flickered (test site Whitespring inside + outside). But I'm 50% happy with what I've fiddled together. At Day:
At Night:
At Interior:
The most important thing for me: No strong (blinding) Todd-Rays. No blooming effect when leaving a building and the annoying eye-killer PipBoy is also significantly reduced. The flickering cannot be completely switched off via the INIs, as it is partly scripted (via the more than outdated Flash player). (Adobe has not supported this for almost 10 years, otherwise: errors are irreparable! Running an entire game menu via the Flash player was a disastrous idea. Fallout 3 (2008) opens the PipBoy - CDT - LOL). It's the same crap in Fallout 76 (2018)! Why they didn't understand this ten years later is just as unclear as the mix of drugs that led to it.
I guess we'll have to wait for a (again buggy) update from BUGthesda. But remember: Every third game developer is now just as stupid as the other two.

Here is another website where you can find all executable Fallout76Custom.ini commands. But be careful, without a check with FO76Edit (see below) this can lead to commands not being executed. Only the commands listed in “SeventySix.esm” in the “Game Setting” section are executed. This was a great help for me:
This can be used to output lists; you can find the corresponding add-ons/scripts at Nexus. Your own lists will then be up to date. Here you can load the main file of the Fallout 76 game ("SeventySix.esm" in c:\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout76\Data\) and see under “Game Setting” which INI commands are still up to date. This is because BUGthesda tends to turn everything upside down from time to time (to keep modders uselessly busy), or to sabotage the game. INI commands are deleted or made unusable. In TESO, at least 2-3 times a year the API is defaced in such a way that older add-ons no longer work. What luck for the modders!
I have an issue with the 1.7 version of Natural. Everything looks great except the water is showing up as clear or transparent on the surface. If I go under the water, it looks how it should. Anyone know what I could do to fix this issue?
Update After doing some testing, I found the fix. The issue was under the [Enlighten] section of the ini. bEnlightenCubemapTiledShader=0. Changing this back to 1 fixed the issue.
Your welcome!! But thank you for posting this great series of tweaks to the game. It has made it look way better, and performance is up. Not bad for an older game with an engine that was made when Todd Howard was like 18... lmao
Your tweaks to enlighten in the latest release are a godsend! The silvery interior lighting in outdoor cells are almost gone. I've been trying for ages to get enlighten to play ball, and you finally did it. Thank you so friggin' much!
Hey Byrdworker - thanks for looking into this and releasing a fix!
Out of curiosity, since I've also been struggling to find the right alchemy of settings for [feels like an infinite time], what was the issue causing the transparent water? (I even submitted my camp with no water showing at all 😂)
Asking that because so far I have been shutting off enlighten entirely. Yet, I can't deny that cubemaps add - a lot - to a game that should be featuring plenty of pseudo-metallic objects (it's still ridiculous to be struggling with issues like this in 2024, but hey, it's a dated engine).
Hello! What setting is responsible for the distance of drawing shadows on trees? They darken (shadows appear on them) literally before your eyes when you run))
It's definitely not these settings: fShadowDistance=120000.0000 fDirShadowDistance=120000.0000
fBlendSplitDirShadow=512.0000 or =256.0000 This setting will increase the draw distance of the low resolution shadows making the pop-in far less noticeable from Low Res to High Res making it so you only see High Res Shadows as you walk, the default high number is =48.0000, this setting is also changed in Fallout76Prefs.ini

i've had a lot of stuff come up IRL, and i've uninstalled 76 to focus on irl stuff.
new version still works fine! simply delete the section for "enlighten" if your game is too dark
Many thanks for the quick reply.

I use DeepL as my translator. My grade for DeepL would be very good.
