I can't seem to get it to work! As far as I know, I've placed the file in the right folder and have added its name to the ResourceArchive2List like the other mods I'm using. But it doesn't make any difference with that horrible noise the gamma gun makes, and continues to make even if you aren't holding it, or even if you place it in your stash! I'm using it with Steam instead of the Bethesda launcher. Would that make a difference?

Make sure you're writing in the archive into the correct list in the ini file. There are two different listings and they're used for different kinds of files. There's SResourceArchiveList2 and SResourceArchive2List. Tbh even I never really know what one each mod goes into and I just put them in both cuz it doesn't hurt anything.

Tho if that still doesn't work, it's always possible this mod got deprecated. I haven't played Fallout 76 in quite some time now, so I can't offer assistance anymore if an update is required.

Thanks for responding! This is the first I've heard of "SResourceArchiveList2." The only other mods I've installed are the perk loadout and better inventory mods and they didn't reference it. But I added a SResourceArchiveList2 line to Fallout76custom.ini and put the gamma gun mod's name there just to see if it made any difference. But alas, no joy. Maybe it did get deprecated. And totally understand that it's not a priority if you no longer play the game. :-) Anyway, thanks again for getting back to me. For a mod that was uploaded like two years ago, I had no expectations as to whether I'd get a response at all. So much appreciated. Cheers!

As I understand it, the update that added human NPCs broke a lot of sound mods because they repointed tons of sound and voice IDs. This would be the first time I've heard about that update breaking a sound effect file (thought it was only voice files).

The only way to really be sure would be to open up Fallout76.esm in XEdit and check the ID number listed for the Gamme Gun's idle sound effect, and make sure that it's the same as the ID of the sound file I've got set in this mod.

Could use the same for the Rocket Sledge (All-Rise, etc) -- so annoying. Haven't used a Gamma Gun yet, but I imagine it's very similar.

Should be easy enough to do this for the Rocket Sledge and Shishkebob. Anything else?

I remember the idle sound for Laser Muskets being very obnoxious in Fallout 4, but I'm not even sure that those guns are in Fallout 76? Haven't seen one yet at least and I'm level 60.

I had the same "WTF?" moment with the Shishkebob. Sounded like something was always behind me or coming towards me.

      No problem!

It was very annoying wasn't it? Maybe it wouldn't have been so obnoxious if it didn't play when the gun was sheathed. It actually took me a while to figure out WTF was making that sound. I thought maybe my speakers were dying at first. XD
