hey, does this retexture for both male and female versions of the outfits? or just the female version? i ask because all of the images have female characters in them
oh I see thanks! I actually tried to get the hunter long coat one specifically working in fallout 4, I extracted the textures and meshes and placed them in the relevant folders.
apparently fallout 76 uses the same naming convention as the folders were already named the correct things, but unfortunately in game something is weird about it and it doesn't look quite right. the textures are clearly replaced as the scarf is red and the coat is black, but something about it is borked. when I extracted the mesh the only file I saw was a foutfit.nif for the female version so that's why I was curious if it was female only!
i might tinker with it a bit more to see if i can get it working, it looks like an awesome texture swap and it would be cool to get it working in fallout 4. I endorsed the mod in any case, great work on it! i didn't know that fallout 76 had any mod capability given it's an MMO kind of game.
I edited the nif quite a bit to make it look less torn. The same textures go for the male version of the outfit anyways.
Fallout 4 would require a texture format conversion. Normal maps need to be saved as "unsigned", diffuse maps need to be linear and you will need to come up with a method on dissecting _l.dds and _r.dds textures to create fallout 4 specific specular map (_s.dds) I haven't tried to convert fo76 textures to fo4 format yet, but I'm sure you'll be able to do that with some googling.
Thank you for the kind words! Check out my profile's files section for a ton of other retextures, I bet you gonna love them too :D
Ahh, I suspected it was something like that! Thanks for clarifying that, I will see what I can find on fallout 76 to fallout 4 texture conversion.
Strange that they use so much else in common even the folder locations and names but have a different texture format.
Are your other mods all for fallout 76 as well or are any fallout 4? I don't play fallout 76, wasn't my cup of tea but I will definitely take a look at your other mods.
Oops, sorry, I completely missed your previous message! Well, until recently I focused solely on fo76, but few months ago I have joined FO4 FROST dev team and now my modding endaevours revolve mainly around several FROST-related projects (some of which are already parts of the latest Frost Official Updates: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/48839?tab=description ). I even had thoughts about transferring parts of my Winter in Appalachia mod to fo4 because of that, but that's more of a long term goal for now.
On complications with mods conversion: I think Beth just made the engine a bit more advanced for fo76 and texturing now allows for more flexibility. If you know how it all works it's really not that hard to transfer stuff from fo4 to 76 and vice-versa. The only problem for now is that we don't have proper full modding support, and I assume Beth doesn't want to add it for numerous reasons. If you wanna discuss anything else, please pm me your discord, it's gonna be much more convenient this way.
Awesome, glad to hear! If you do ever make any Fallout 4 mods please let me know, I'll definitely check them out!
Can you follow or subscribe to mod creators on Nexus? I only recently started using this site again and I can't figure out if that is a feature it has.
I don't think so, but you can subscribe to the specific mod's updates by pressing the "track" button near the "endorse" one. You can also add me as a friend to always have my profile link in your list. You'll just need to open the user files section from there. https://www.nexusmods.com/users/638441?tab=user+files And yeah, I'm planning to release couple standalone mods for fo4, so stay tuned :D
I love the texture of this leather! Thanks for this remarkable mod. Can you tell me how to get the "classy chassis duster", just add the "Classy Chassis 76 Outfit Replacer"?
Thanks! It would've taken some time to make a good leather retex, that's for sure. The thing is, I never usually make retextures for outfits I don't use myself, so these two aren't in my plans for now.
Please pm me more specific questions you have and the skills you possess. Making simple recolors is an easy task involving just a few simple steps (especially if you're familiar with basic photoshopping), but making proper high-quality retextures is a whole another story.
This may be way too big of an ask, but would it be possible to add this mod to Fallout 4 on Xbox? If not, I totally get that, but I’ve been looking for this exact mod and you did such a good job. I would legit pay for this in Fo4 (specifics up to you)
Thank you! Sorry, but I don't plan to port any of my mods to FO4 since I don't play the game anymore. Also, right now I'm working on a huge project for 76, which is planning to release in late december, so I can't really deter from that work to make it in time.
You're too kind! Thanks for the suggestion, I'll retexture that western hat np! I just realized I always had it retextured in black and red, but without leather texture.
What other outfits do you think would look good in black leather btw? I'm thinking about adding some more to the bundle.
Thanks for suggestions! I was thinking about finally making a retexture for ranger armors, now I guess I'll just put them higher in my priority list -))
I had the retextures allmost ready for over a year, but some of the small details bothered me to no end on both outfits and I couldn't release the mod without them fixed unfirtunately.

strange they would change that when so much about the games is similar otherwise, seems to make it tough to easily port mods back and forth.
maybe it was intentional by bethesda to stop modders easily being able to take fallout 76 stuff and put it in fallout 4 mods, or vice versa?

Do you mind if I ask how to do the retexturing? If it's not too hard maybe I can try.
Regardless, thank you
And thanks for following my works.
Should do the hat too, heh.

Oh and the two new outfits. The bos civvies and the mercenary
Glad you liked the mod!
