Nice. But I was hoping this would be a more needed fix - i.e. zoom in so when sat at a screen you can't even see the keyboard because it's a waste of space and sometimes leaves the screen too small and far away purely to show the pretty but non-interactive keyboard close-up. Maybe there's an ini tweak. Maybe the forthcoming update will fix it but I think they love their keyboard too much and want to show it off.
Something like FOV Slider and Player Height would likely work best as it has separate FOV settings for regular first-person, third-person, and terminals. There might be an ini setting (console commands too, I assume), but that mod is the most user-friendly way to do it.
For the most part, I'm fine with the keyboards when it comes to the regular and Angel terminals, but the telephone terminal is one that usually is far too small for me to read easily. I don't recall seeing anything other than entry and grammar editing for terminals in their real-time changelog, however.
Hey, thanks for feedback & link! Several folk have raised it elsewhere (eg, this reddit). Oddly I find some screens fine and others too far away seemingly even with the same type of terminal. And I'd have thought (if anything) my 1920x1200 resolution would help...
Aargh - FNVPlayer85 later edited their post from saying FOV slider didn't work to saying it did! So I didn't get an alert. As for UPD it means Uniparental Disomy - an unfortunate disorder I guess causes folks to radically alter their posts - or maybe it means "update".
Anyway, I appreciate folks suggesting workarounds, but I don't (yet) use MCM and problem seems to affect some terminals but not others (even of the same type) so, for now, I'd rather live with it than install MCM to keep escaping to menu to tweak a global setting.
But either way, I just read next FOLON update (from v1.02 to v1.03) is due out next month, so will wait to see if it tweaks it. Cheers.
Heyo I just saw this, the camera is zoomed out so you can actually see the animation, maybe I should have put more thought into this before making it. There is a super easy fix for it though.
If you open LondonWorldSpace - Animations.ba2 in Archive2 or a BA archive editor and search for "terminal" you will see these 15 files:
Spoiler:
Show
Simple delete them and save the archive. This will revert them back to the vanilla anims which are far more zoomed in.
Hey, many thanks for the response and info. Ah, it makes sense it's tied to the animation as that might explain why sometimes I've not had the issue (i.e. maybe the animations didn't happen at some terminals). I'm not into setting up a Beth account etc, so for the other option I guess you're referring to this Archive manger (listed in FO76) which does not at all seem a "simple" workaround to me I'm afraid - but it is probably feasible enough for folks used to editing archives!
I get that FOLON wanted to show the animations and maybe it looks great on a big monitor, but it doesn't work too well on standard or smaller monitors (in FO4 I need terminal screens to take up most of my monitor's view or I'm left squinting. It'd be really neat if FOLON could keep initial animations and then zoom in to make the terminal screen bigger but I guess that'd exceed how FO4 is built.
If you download the Creation kit on steam you will get a tools folder in your Fallout 4 Root folder. Inside the tools folder you will find another folder called Archive2 .(The nextgen patch introduced an update to the creation kit and archive2, if you save using the NG version the archive may not work)
Inside that you can use Archive2.exe to open archives, search for the terminal anims and press DEL on your keyboard then hit save. Just make sure it's the correct version of Archive2.
I went from never noticing...to not caring....to trying not to care.....to ignoring it.....to constantly staring at it on every terminal I open....to wondering how they could have got right and left mixed up?... to having to download this mod.
I rejoice in the fact that people make mods like this - I hadn't notice before now! :-)
Maybe the update is 160 years too late but it's fixed now - maybe it was this that caused the Great War. It was a poor design choice putting R for "Reboot" just next to L for "Lauch Nuclear Hell" but also mix them up... oh well.

I'd like you to know it was in fact intentional...
Totally intentional... 100% intentional...
Besides, I'm an English teacher - it's my job to be pedantic!

70 looks good for me.

HOWEVER the keyboard layout still needs to be the British one, that Enter key ought to be taller
Hope you are happy with yourself!
