Previous versions behaved in a rather strange way. Having lost Churchill and decided that this mod would help me, but it turned out that when I activated it in an ATTA-boy, all companions that I had never seen before were displayed on the map. That is literally got a spoiler about who would be and where they were, but there was no dog in sight. After that, I abandoned this mod because it didn't solve my problem. Playing Survival, Churchill got hurt, couldn't stim him and I had to leave him behind. Message in the corner said he went to Covenant. Might be why he wasn't showing when I first tried this mod. But your teleporter brought him back and I can track him now. He was taking a long swim to Boston. :)
Would it be possible for you to create a version of this where each follower is a separate quest marker? It's very easy to wind up with a screen full of map markers, and anything to help with that would be much appreciated, Maybe make them miscellaneous quests?
