    Sadly mod didn't work for me.

    But this fixed it if anyone is wondering how to fix this!

    Make a manual save and then follow these instructions.

    • Open Console
    • Select your companion.
    • Type "setconsolescopequest followers'
    • Type "Forcerefintoalias companion"
    • Type "Setrelationshiprank player 4"
    • Type "Setplayerteammate 1"

    Thanks, I forgot this was a thing and picked up Mad Jack as my companion and then was unable to get Archie back

    Is there anyway you can update this to fix the bug where you can't re-add Archie as a companion if you dismiss him to snag a different companion?

      That's what this fix was designed to address... Whereabouts in the Thameshaven/Ferryman/Archie/etc. quest line are you? When and how did you dismiss Archie?

      Ah, the infamous brownface bug. Apparently I was so tired when I uploaded that I didn't even notice. Thanks for the catch, I've replaced it with a fresh shot.
