    Hey guys and girls!

Thank you all so much for your support, feedback, endorsments, donations and pictures - it's great to see that you enjoy my work! :D

I'm also very sorry to see that some of you are struggling to get the mod working properly!

My mod doesn't have an esp file (since it's just a retexture) - so mod order changes or similar fixes simply won't work!
The problem is that FO4 handles loose files + texture/mesh replacers a bit differently than Skyrim > there loose files automatically have priority!
In FO4 this is only the case as long as absolutely no esp file interacts in any shape or form with mesh/texture/NPC.

So if you have ANY mod installed that overhauls/changes/improves Synths, Companions, Nick in ANY way (behaviour/skills/whatever) then Valentine Reborn won't work properly anymore. It might be small improvement mods like "Companions can Sneak"... or unlimited ammo mods, or similar things... I don't use any of those myself so I can't say for sure, but it's mods like that which mess with my textures showing up properly.
(Let me know when you find out which ones definitely don't work)

I've still not found a great solution for this issue... since it's not a problem with my mod per se (it works perfectly fine on its own), and creating an esp file just to get some texture replacers to work seems a bit extreme, I'm no fan of doing that.:/
(if any of you can+wants to help making an esp file to enable Valentine Reborn to always work - that would certainly speed things up since I'm not sure when I have time to do that + lack real experience with the FO4 CK)

NEWS: the long awaited V2.0 is up! Complete HD retexture of Nick + his outfit!

(And yes, the back of his head is now retextured too of course)

Nick now has his own separate eyetexture, so you can pick different colors for him + the rest of the Synths!

For anyone struggling to make this work, I got it to work by using the following mods in the following order in MO2:

    Truly Unique Nick
    https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/23678

Nick Valentine Synth Detective I Synthetic Facelift
    https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/74266

Valentine REBORN - Nick Face Retexture - HD Synth Eyes and Teeth - Gen1 Metal Skeleton
    https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9568

Nick Valentine Reborn - Compatibility Fix
    https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/67313

The end result is a blue eyed nick with face textures from this mod wearing the black coat and hat from the facelift mod. I'll have to test further if the Truly Unique and Compatability Fix are both needed but this worked for now.

So, funny story. I installed Truly Unique Nick, Nick Reborn, and the compatibility fix, but not the facelift. After tinkering around with load order and getting it to seemingly work, I realized I also had the Synth HD Yellow eyes installed too, for other synths, but I don't think I have the right load order for it because... Both yellow and blue textures show, creating a very charming green-eyed Nick in certain lighting. Sometimes the yellow takes priority, sometimes the blue, and sometimes it's green. I'm keeping it this way. In my headcanon, his eyes change based on his mood or mode of functioning. Makes for dynamic and interesting cinematic scenes.

it wasnt working for me ,,,, in the textures folder we have 2 folder, actors and clothes. in the actors folder there is a Synths folder and then a folder named Nick Valentine Reborn with the blue eyes the skin , the face etc.... I dragged these files into the Synths folder leaving Nick Valentine Reborn folder empty.                   Did the same with the clothes folder wich has a folder named Valentine with his hat and coat .  Nick Valentine 100% working , the blue eyes his face and his clothing.... and it looks really good ... Very good mod Valentine Reborn thanks to the mod author very good job !!!

      Thank you.

Did you put his cloths in the cloths folder or the synth folder?

So mine wouldnt work also, So I decided to give what Sm0ken1nFin8 said in Bugs a chance and it worked. However you need to edit ALL of the file names.

    File Location: Steam>steamapps>common>Fallout4>Data>Textures>actors>Synths

In this file will also be the Nick Valentine Reborn folder, I copied the files in that folder and placed them into the Synths folder just incase something went wrong. After you move them and rename them as he says the mod will work.

In the Synths file should look like this:

    Nice Valentine Reborn (folder)
    _folder_managed_by_vortex
    Gen1Synth_d.dds ( The frame )
    Gen1Synth_n.dds
    Gen1Synth_s.DDS
Gen2Eyes_d.dds  ( The large silver portion of the eye )
Gen2Eyes_g.dds ( The blue retina or whatever color you picked for the mod )
    Gen2Eyes_n.dds
    Gen2Eyes_s.dds
    Gen2Face_d.dds ( The facial features )
    Gen2Face_msn.dds
    Gen2Face_s.dds
Gen2Mouth_d.DDS ( This file was already in this folder on mine )
    Gen2Skin_d.dds ( Skin patches )
    Gen2Skin_n.dds
    Gen2Skin_s.dds

Im not sure if its case sensitive but this is exactly how my folder looks, hope this helps someone!

Hi! I decided to test out what you posted here and it worked for the most part, Nick has his pretty blue eyes and HD metal frame now, but his skin is still vanilla potato, Did I get something wrong? https://imgur.com/a/n9FKyEl

      (EDIT)
https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/67313?tab=description - saw this mod further down in the comments, and it does enable his HD textures, but he seems to have bits sticking out of his neck, it might be because I have him in a different outfit from his original https://imgur.com/a/Pch50dS

Thanks for your post detailing what was breaking the mod. I uninstalled another retexture for institute synths and now it's working, didn't need too much troubleshooting thanks to your explanation. Great mod, been using it for years, it really humanizes Nick, can't play without it now. Thanks for your work !

If you are still struggling to get nick to actually change, and you are using nick valentine reborn and or truly unique nick, place them both at the bottom of your load order, let truly unique load after NVR_FIX. the only mods i have below those 2 are Immersive Wastelanders, and the tactical reload vanilla/dlc ESPs, if i move them anywhere else nick doesnt change, this should help some people troubleshoot the issue because this kind of gives the mod a load order functionality.

Has anyone able to get Valentine Reborn to work again?

It no longer appears on LOOT Plugin or load order.  It does appear on Vortex and states that it is installed and enabled but no where on there or on Mod Organizer does it appear on the load order or the plugin tab.  Im struggling to resolve this because i looked on all 28 pages on here, Steam and other forums and no one else seems to be having this issue :(  If any of you know how i can force it to be a plugin or appear on the load order please let me know <3

The mod has no plugin, so it doesn't appear in LOOT for that reason. The pinned comment from 83Willow on top of this page explains it.

Just tried this and it worked! Thanks for the info! The only thing I had to do was forward changes from other mods in xEdit to Truly Unique Nick as per it's instructions.
