The level of the turret is the base game isn't random, it's based off of how far southeast the settlement is. Edit: This mod permanently corrupted my save file. Great.
IMHO, the vanilla machine gun turret COBJs should be disabled by this mod, since it's supposed to be replacing them.
Here's a mod that does this. Already-built machine gun turrets are not harmed, but the recipes to build them are removed (by unlinking them from the Workshop build menu).
Agreed. I copied that edit into my own personal edit of this mod which removes the normal machine gun turrets entirely and only adds the mark 3, 5, and 7 heavy machine gun turrets. I can't fathom why I'd ever make an ordinary machine gun turret over a heavy one so those are pointless for me to keep.
Default game turrets are untouched by this mod. You can even still build them if you want to because the mod doesn't disable the recipes for them.
@ccmads Fantastic mod. Thanks. This functionality should have been in the default game. The Bethesda randomness doesn't make any sense at all because high level mobs can attack any settlement including the ones where you can only build MK1 turrets by default...
I just increased the resource and perk requirements a little for the higher tier turrets and disabled the default turret recipes but apart from that I was happy with your work.
I like the idea of this mod, but it seems a tad unbalanced, as to how easy the more powerful turrets are to make. Might I suggest making the higher ones require more perks and components?
Question: I can build the vanilla turrets on perma-game structures (buildings that cannot be scrapped) (example: Egar Marina: Shipyard roof) but not your fine turrets. Your turrets can be built on any object from the workshop or a platform. Any chance for a fix for this, or do you recommend still building a platform/buildable from the workshop to place them on to get them off the ground? Thanks for your wonderful mod and time.
