This is a terrific 1911 mod, the models, textures, materials, and even the sounds are just fantastic.  So I got permission from Broodahood to port it to VR (you should be able to use this mod in non VR too, provided you don't already use the original mod in your save).

This mod is NOT SAFE to use in a save with the BH Colt M1911 Army Pistol already installed


So to start off, I renumbered the FormIDs to be above 800.

I did not change the header version, I recommend Fallout 4 Version Check Patcher for that.

Here is where I added some personal tweaks:

  • Its ammo is changed to 45 (it was 10mm)
  • Its base damage in 10mm was 25, and 32 in 45cal, its 45 by default now and its damage is 32 (in order to change its ammo to 45 by default, I removed the conversion options)
  • Damage past its effective range is 25%, instead of 50%, this gives the 10mm pistol a niche, and behaves closer to real life, where 10mm does less damage up close, but is better at range than the 45 (45 past its range will do 8 damage, 10mm vanilla will do 9, 10mm with the 10mm Pistol Damage Increase mod will do 13.5)
  • I added a match grade barrel mod that slightly increases accuracy and range
  • I redid the weight of many components to bring the 1911 in line with its real life average weight of 2.2-2.5 lbs (without suppressors or lasers or lights or sights, those things will still bump up the weight past the average)
  • Fixed the Suppressors adding effective range, they now subtract range like the rest of the game's weapons
  • Added the leveled list injection into the mod to save VR users from needing to use another plugin (the one time script working will now also correctly tell you the 1911 was added to the leveled lists instead of saying the HK USP was added to the leveled lists)
  • Fixed the sight alignment (for flatscreen players) so they wont need this mod, saving yet another plugin slot.
  • Improved the aim model to be more along the lines of the Weapon Accuracy Redone for VR mod, and of course because the 1911 is a nail driver in real life, it is comparable to the 10mm in terms of accuracy if you use that mod.

KNOWN ISSUES:
Because this mod was made for flatscreen, the red dot sights are not collimated, meaning they are not parallax-free, the only useful sights at the moment are the iron sights, and thats the second issue, when using the iron sights properly, the bullet will impact slightly high.  If you make the front sight post a bit lower than the rear sight in your sight picture, the bullet will hit as intended.  I am working on finding a solution, but coming up short.  I don't know how to properly make a sight node in nifskope.  The other solution would be to rotate the entire weapon upwards in nifskope, but this causes misalignment in many components, and would make it non compatible with flatscreen.  If anyone knows how to make proper sight nodes in nifskope, I would be forever grateful for your help.

Another option, probably simpler for somebody with Blender skills, would be to lower the rear sight a bit, the model would still look realistic.

All that being said, this is still a very serviceable mod, and its a sweet weapon
