Someone is already working on a really nice mosin nagant mod,and they even have a video posted of what they have so far. They have custom animations with stripper clip reloading. The guy said he has to fix some more things on it before it's ready for release. I don't think it will be that long before it's released.
It's funny how there's a PPSh, an SVT, and a PTRS but for some reason not a Mosin. It's almost like the modders are working backwards in the way of Soviet weaponry, now all I want is a DP and the Mosin
I will check out the model when I get back from class. Looks like a good start! You should be able to export an obj if using a different program to UV map the models for textures. (obj or fbx because it keeps the uv information in the same file as the mesh.) After UV'ed in either max or something else, you can export a nif (final step to get ready to add to game) of the uv'ed object. If you dont mind, Ajhakra and I would love to polish and import this into the game, and add you to the authors.
After playing Sniper Elite 3, I love mosin-nagant but this is the only mod I can find about in Fallout 4. It seems not many people are interested about it.
I actually bought one irl, and I can say, it's worth the $380 something I payed because it came with all the original extra stuff like the cleaning kit and bayonet. Otherwise, The gun should't be priced nearly that high. Definitely worth it though.
I paid $205 for mine just last year. It came with the cleaning kit, bayonet, etc. You shouldn't have paid that much. A lot of sellers claim that their's is original finish. First of all, it's next to impossible to verify. Secondly, Arsenal refinished most rifles before exporting them.
The bolt is on the right, I've never heard of a left Mosin
However, because Fallout 4... all guns have their actions flipped. Charging handle/bolt on the left side of the reciever. I can't tell you how much this bothers me, but what ever. So, the reciever has to be flipped.
One of my favorite rifles of all time, the Mosin 91/30... so much so that I went out and bought one. (And a M38 carbine variant, nasty little thing).
Such a gorgeous rifle, aesthetically pleasing and damn accurate for an older rifle.
As for the model itself, for just starting out, you did very well. As someone pointed out there are areas in which you can approve, but I am not really the best to give advice as I am pretty new myself. Definitely take advantage of the mirror option on symmetrical objects though, it saves a ton of time and makes the item uniform. The pic someone posted has some very helpful tips!
not just accurate, the thing is lethal at a kilometer, modifiable too, a website called CBRPS sells a center balanced stock for it, turns it into a bolt action bull-pop, it is simply sick, the rifle itself is indestructible by ammo, meaning and i did it, stuffed a shell to capacity with a FMJ round, it fired, with mad noise, kicked like a head on collision with a bus, the chamber did not warp or expand, there was no damage, from a round that should have destroyed the rifle and blown my head off, after it cooled a bit, i used a cleaning rod to tap the shell casing out, unbelievably still fires perfectly, i have since installed a sin thetic montecarlo styled stock, tactical rails, a bipod and a scope, also threaded the barrel and installed a heart breaker muzzle break, all in black it is a beauty, im not convinced yet to invest in the ARCHANGEL stock that makes it so you can use magazines, instead of clip racking into the factory mag well, it love this rifle, more than any the US Army ever had me fire, and that includes the 50 cal, i love the mosin nagant.
