Hey there! Some great news - a fellow user, who asked to remain anonymous, glady gifted me with a brand new copy of Fallout 4 and all the newer DLCs!
What better moment to update? I just revised all my mod's logic, making it snappier and easier to understand. Still fully customizable, it adds VR support.
Automatron DLC finally fully compatible! It's been 84 years...
I'm currently working to completely support all the DLCs too! Stay tuned :D
Oblivion had a mod like it, just adding blank audio files to randomly make the world quiet for a few and it was great. This makes going in/out of dungeons interesting sound wise, since I kept dungeons on and outside world is off. My radio is more vivid, since it's the only music. My companion's chatting is easier to hear. Even simple things like a noise makes me turn to see what it is, since I can hear it now; basically, this made the game more tension fueled. At least for me.
i have the old AIO version the previously muted all themes am I allowed to upload it for others to use as some have commented that they would like an aio rather than multiple files
In only a few minutes, I added Far Harbor music to this mod for myself. With basic modding skills, you can too. Open SoS-Mute_Explore_Themes.esp in Fo4Edit. Find DCLCoast.esm open the Music Type folder right click on DCL03MUSExplore (and any other music types you want to silence) select "copy as override into" select SoS-Mute_Explore_Themes.esp Select DCL03MUSExplore that you've just added, and go to the "Music Tracks" line. Right click, remove. Yes to the dialogue box. Close FO4Edit, putting a checkbox in your esp to save it. Done. Enjoy the sound of silence in Far Harbor.
I've like forever just played with all the music off in the options. You still get it in the start screen and menus. The radio still works fine ingame which is what I listen to if I want music. Not quite sure what this mod does different. But I agree that the game is far better when all you hear are the sounds of the wastelands of which there are plenty.
In the description there's a big box that answers your question. If you turn the music off you will, well, turn ALL the music off. This mod lets you choose to selectively disable certain tracks. This way you can e.g. mute all explore background repetitive music while still being able to listen to the epic, unique tracks played during cinematic and pivotal moments.
Sound settings don't save, was sick of having make game music quiet all the time that i played, boom, this worked instead, fantastic! I hate games that put music into them... If i want to listen to music, I'd listen to the "radios" and that's exactly what I do, stop putting random music blasting across the wasteland!
Would you be able to make a mod for "True storms" because everytime i start my game, i have to constantly adjust the audio of weather and stuff because it always maxes out no matter what i set it to, sure it stay what it is via that time in game, but everytime relaunch i have to keep adjusting.
I'm really happy that this mod still works as of 2024. I've just archived the installer version since many of you reported issues with it - just manually choose which version you prefer, and they'll work fine.
Keep in mind that some themes introduced by the official DLCs are not supported, so, if you own them, you may occasionally hear some pesky background music starting. I unfortunately do not own the DLCs (I lost my Fallout 4 copy too!) so I can't update this mod. If you are a modder and you're interested into reviving this project, contact me and I'll tell you how to create a patch for my mod as well!
