Version 1.2 just released and also isn't a content update, still looking to resolve the issues with NPCs being completely black in my two interior cells.
Please let me know if the issue is still persisting.
So I've noticed with the black silhouettes, that some things that are animated show up as normal such as the earrings in one of the screenshots and my character's face shields on the assaultron helmet.
Took this screenshot with the flashlight on... maybe that will help pinpoint what lighting is being affected?
Only other thing I can think of, after seeing all the attempts to fix this... if you relocate, the ARES location in a different part of the map (or a new locale of your creation)... does it still create the silhouettes?
Hello headcase, just released patch 1.3 after listening to other modders and hopefully the issue with the NPCs and PC have been resolved. If you get a second, I'd really appreciate if you downloaded the latest version and could let me know if the issue is solved. Thank you!
If we eliminate the obvious, maybe the answer will present itself.
We know your characters outside that first cell are just fine. MedTek area(s) have no issues... Moses comes in perfectly. So, I wonder... the cell you've chose as the A.R.E.S. store, maybe an issue with that compared to other cells?
I don't know.. it's just troubleshooting 101, get rid of your variables.
There is something wrong with the lighting. All npcs in both the shop and the bunker appear as silhouettes. The volume for A.R.E.S is too loud. Is it possible to reduce the voice modulation?
I just wanted to add I also had this issue. I do not have mods that mess with the area around Diamond City that I am aware of. This did not affect my gameplay or VATS. Kinda looks cool, but I have not seen Moses yet and sent him to Sanctuary. By the numbers he is accounted for, but not sure if he will appear. I will keep you posted.
Interesting, I’ll have to see what the issue could be. Did you add this in during the middle of a play through or at the beginning? Trying to narrow down what it could be.
So to add to this so you know its a wide spread problem, I'm having the same two issues. Ares volume and the all black characters. I will add that during the final interaction with the robot his volume drops noticeably. Endorsed!
In the middle of a new playthrough. About level 13-14ish probably doesn't make a big difference but I still have not gotten through 90%+ of the map yet.
Hey! Just sent out a new version (1.1) if you could simply test to see if the NPCs are still black in the cells, that would be awesome and let me know. Cleaned the mod using FO4Edit and I'm hoping that resolves the issue.
Hi, I just updated the mod to version 1.1, if you could do me a favor and test out the NPCs in the interior and let me know if the issue still persist that would be great! I still haven't been able to replicate the issue and test myself.
Hi again, I still can't replicate the issue on my end and I was hoping you could check for me again after downloading the recent update. Changed some interior settings inside the CK and according to some forums this should fix the issue but I can't test it myself.
Grazie comunque!
Hey, the quest so far looks pretty neat, and huge props for voice acting yourself instead of using AI, always nice to see. I do have a couple criticisms though: -The voice lines for A.R.E.S. are way too loud, I can live with the static noise but the volume needs to be like a third of what it currently is, maybe even lower. -The injections seem a bit OP, especially given that they are available from the start of the quest (not sure if it's intentional, but the Heracles injection gives +30 strength, which is crazy strong). I'd either reduce the length or strength of the effects, change the quest to only make them available later in the quest, or only make them available in strictly limited amounts. -The A.R.E.S. shop cell seems to make all NPCs (A.R.E.S., companions, etc.) completely black, but that could be a bug on my end.
I'm still looking forward to seeing more from this though!
Noted, I can definitely look into the volume issue for A.R.E.S. I had to raise the volume using audacity and then import them in but they didn’t seem very loud to me, granted I don’t have my headset at full blast so I’ll check it out when I get the chance.
I can look into that as well, my objective for it was to have a higher effect for a premium cost. But I’ll look into other options as well, all for feedback.
No one else has reported that issue and when I tested it, I had no problem with it so it could just be on your end.
Thank you!!! I appreciate it and thank you for the feedback, more updates are to come!
I own a blue snowball (mic) and am a recording engineer / audio engineer. If you want some lines, I could help. It'd be nice to add that to my portfolio too. Not a lot of weight in my voice, but I have a lot of depth and can do most american accents, and a couple foreign ones
I think I could make that work at some point, i definitely don’t like voicing stuff myself so the more the merrier! When the next plan comes to fruition, I’ll hit you up!
i'm not always a regular here on nexus so im not sure how folks prefer to share credentials but if you really want some work im sure you can find me through this thread any time i'll give you high quality work and do the engineering/post bits myself. typically mix for my own music as a vocalist, and this'd be nice as a way to start VA (oh, and im a seasoned writer. barely published.. but who cares. tens of thousands of hours of writing lol.. experience in most contexts) cheers

Do you have any mods that mess with the surrounding area if Diamond City?
The voice I plan on working on.
EDIT: I a using a shader, so I could check and see if it’s on my end with the shader off as well.
I’ll have to change that up then and see if that helps.
I kinda thought it was done on purpose... keep a little mystery to the scene. Strange bug indeed.
I am going to load an older save, and delete this MOD.
I will keep tracking.

Used a translation app, hopefully it makes sense!
