This makes my prefered playstyle of having all the companions i can convince to follow me at once so much better. just gotta try to tap stuff once to get credit. so much fun.
Hmm only 25% by default? That is not fair. I would like to have it more that 50% I am not one of those lazy casual so I would want to have it fair so setting it to 0.550000 will make it that I must deal more than 50% to gain XP yes?
Having to deal 25% or more of the damage to gain Exp really penalizes Follower-based Charisma "builds" (if even an applicable term in a game with almost infinite levels) though. I'm trying a Charisma build for the Sim Settlements mod, and having companions constantly hog Exp from kills is a pain in the ass.
In Fallout 3, you had to deal 25% or more damage to gain exp, and follower builds were basically impossible in it (without mods) due to how useless Charisma was. In Fallout: New Vegas, Charisma directly contributed to how much damage/resistance your companions had through Nerve, so a Charisma build was possible. There are some Charisma perks in Fallout 4 that buff companions (not many though), so the build is a little more viable than it was in Fallout 3.
in fallout 3 you use enclave commander mod , and troops from this mod give you exp and you just stand & watch them fight :-) this mod have script to give player xp
I'm gonna try your mod not because of my companion stealing my kill but my radiation weapon is too powerful (Radium rifle + legendary rad effect added), the game don't consider the rads damage as damage dealt by the player, and I often end up with no xp killing human opponents ;/
Edit : Work as intented I get xp from foe killed with my radium rifle, my companion no "steal" kill anymore, and super mutant suicider gives xp when you explode them, triple win thx :)
No because of how the vanilla engine works. You HAVE to deal at *least* a single point of damage to gain experience. I think they did it so you can't have a companion just shoot things while you ignore everything and level up, but I don't know for sure.
Actually is a mod now, that does exactly that.. Trouble is, this cr** is hard baked into the engine code, so sadly only 2 options - this mod where you have to do something to a mob, to get exp or the newer mod, which has you recieving exp for EVERYTHING - Even if you didn't even see those BoS knights killing super mutants, but they loaded in your cell, you get exp for it..
for meele builds this mechanic is lame, you never hit the enemy that your companion is hitting, i would love if you get xp (even way lower xp) if your companion kills someone, but i know that is impossible
The parameter for the console command is 0.0 so you dont have to hit them at all, so if you edit the plugin and change the value to 0.0 you shouldnt have to hit them at all.
It's hardcoded in the FO4 engine, you need to hit enemy at least once to get exp, it was working fine in older Fallout games, but not in this one, maybe script extender will be able to fix this soon.
{quote}It's hardcoded in the FO4 engine, you need to hit enemy at least once to get exp{/quote} That is lame. It should be Dark Souls style where being within a mile of something that happens to die will give xp.
