Hi! This mod doesn’t add any new shooting animations or techniques — it simply disables the bash (melee) attack that enemies do at close range, so they keep shooting even when they’re near the player. Since it uses regular shooting behavior, I don’t think a video demonstration is necessary. I made this mod because I felt the game became too easy when enemies stopped using their powerful guns and switched to weak melee attacks at close range.
Works pretty fine.. I do no but if can be used GMST"bash attack distance" instead, maybe can be fix for race trouble bellow? This all is just tip. (0 than back to 141? I have 91 and works fine,) I was tweaking this in my "block it" mod. At distance 60+- it stoped bash also.
What a great idea -- I've read that gun bash damage is tiny compared to shooting as it would be in real life. And your implementation method is about as lightweight as a mod can get.
It seems like there's an issue retrieving Race data, possibly due to a conflict with another mod. It works fine on my end, and I looked through the code, but I can't tell which part might be causing the problem, so it's difficult to fix. I'm sorry about that.
Very nice. Thanks! May i ask? What will hapen with f.e. 5-10% chance for bash? Can be very rare instead of 0? I mean- the vanilla constant bashing is anoying, but single rare bash anim can be fine for more variety.?
You're right — if it's possible to apply a probability or have it only affect companions, that could actually work pretty well. I'll take a look and see what can be done.
In the recently uploaded version 1.1, you can now open the INI file in the mod folder to adjust the bash chance and cooldown time. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to implement separate settings for individual NPCs or companions.
Is it maybe possible for the mod to detect how much damage the bash does, how long it takes, and compare that to the damage / fire rate of the weapon, and decide what to use based on that? Not as a "request", but since I have no idea about the inner working of what you're doing, I just wanted to make the suggestion in case it's possible, since it would obviously be amazing :) Not that your mods aren't amazing as is though, thank you so much once again.
From what I understand, this kind of behavior is influenced by Combat Style settings and damage comparisons. Unfortunately, I'm not very familiar with how Combat Styles work yet, so updating it that way would be a bit tricky at the moment. I hope you can understand!
This is just an idea and not related to this mod but if you could make a mod that companions can switch weapons type base on the meters around them that would be amazing. BTW, thanks for this great mod.
