About this mod
A lore-friendly (if you think about it) minor overhaul of Fallout 4's "Assault Rifle," with Munitions and Dak's Attachment Pack support!

WHAT THIS MOD DOES:
- Renames the "Assault Rifle" to the Light Machine Gun. This also applies to the modification items themselves, since mod devs tend to overlook this when making renaming patches for ingame weapons, at least from what I've seen; very minor but all the more immersive.
- Removes the semi-automatic receivers both from the weapons workbench menu and leveled lists. Generally, machine guns of any nature are not built with semi-automatic functionality in mind. They're built to fling lead in at an astounding (and consistent) rate of fire. I've made sure that this tidbit of information applies to this gun as well. The automatic receivers have been renamed accordingly, getting rid of the "automatic" prefix. (This took a stupidly long time for me to figure out when the solution was equally as stupidly easy.)
- Munitions Support! Since the model of the "Assault Rifle" is loosely based off of the Lewis Machine Gun—considering the water-cooled barrel is the thing's most eye-catching bit of the design—I've decided to rechamber it accordingly using the .303 British round from codeblackcrash's Munitions Ammo Expansion mod. The Lewis Machine Gun is a British machine gun, and despite the "Assault Rifle" ingame presumably being American-manufactured, I've still chosen to chamber it in .303 British. However, speaking of American-manufactured...
- New Receiver: .30-06 Calibre. Historically, the Americans did get ahold of the blueprints of the Lewis Machine Gun (correct me if I'm wrong, not the most gun-nutty person) and decided to rechamber in in the American .30-06 Springfield. There is now a receiver option to convert the "Assault Rifle" from .303 British to .30-06 Springfield, with the receiver also being added to the leveled lists. It's also ever so slightly punchier than the powerful receiver.
- Support for DegenerateDak and co's Attachment Pack. Since the Attachment Pack has been a smash hit on the Nexus since it's release less than two years ago (+500K downloads in that time span, holy) I've decided to make a patch for it. When I say patch, I din't mean something huge or gamechanging, it's literally just renaming the modification items you create when first building the actual modifications for the first time to have the prefix of "Light Machine Gun," as I've done with the vanilla modification items.
WHEN DOWNLOADING THE MOD ITSELF:
In the files section, you will find four files to choose from. One is for the vanilla game (I know, shocker) that only applies the renaming and leveled list adjustments to the "Assault Rifle" and nothing else, which means no Munitions or Attachment Pack.
The second file includes the Attachment Pack patch, so if you play vanilla but also have the Attachment Pack installed, this one's for you.
The third file includes the Munitions patch, converting the gun from the ingame 5.56 round to .303 British as featured in Munitions, along with including the new .30-06 Springfield receiver.
The fourth file (which I use) includes both the Munitions and Attachment Pack patches for ultimate play.
FINAL THOUGHTS/COMPATIBILITY NOTES:
This mod was entirely made in FO4Edit within the timespan of around 12 hours. Considering I'm rather new to modding Fallout 4 (despite a year of "experience" of just making tiny patches for myself that I don't think I'll post here), this definitely took a while longer than I was originally aiming for. I have a feeling most of y'all would whip something like this up within an hour. I encountered roadblocks that I took way too much time trying to solve when the solutions I were looking for were right in my face. However, I ultimately learned some new things that'll make creating these kinds of patches much easier in the future and more fun since I have more knowledge at my disposal now. If you've actually taken the time to read all of this, thank you. Writing is my one and only single talent that I have developed to the point where I could consider it "above servicable".
Concerning compatibility, like I said above, this mod was completely made in FO4Edit. Everything. No meshes were touched, no models, no textures. Just functionality and lore-friendly touchups. However, this will conflict with mods that edit the names of the weapon, object modifications, and modification items, as well as any rechamberings from other mods, leveled list patches that contain the semi-automatic receivers, so on and so forth, so make sure to create compatibility patches with this mod and those that conflict with this mod in FO4Edit if you're gonna use this mod.
Please inform me if there are any bugs with this patch, such as "Assault Rifles" spawning with semi-auto receivers.
CREDITS:
Full credits to DegenerateDak and co for the wonderful Attachment Pack, truly one of the best mods out on Nexus right now.
Full credits to codeblackcrash for Munitions for the .303 British and .30-06 Springfield rounds for the rechamberings and bonus receiver.
Thank you for downloading this mod, if you so choose. :)
